Justin and Hailey Bieber had already picked a name for their baby when PEOPLE reported on the pregnancy in May 2024—but the name remained private at the time. The couple later revealed it after announcing the arrival of their first child: Jack Blues Bieber.
The name was a secret in May 2024—but it was later revealed
When PEOPLE reported on May 10, 2024 that Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber had already chosen a “perfect” name for their baby, the couple did not disclose what it was. The report said they were preparing a nursery, looking forward to becoming parents and keeping the pregnancy protected from public scrutiny.
Three months later, the couple announced that their first child had arrived—and revealed the name: Jack Blues Bieber.
What PEOPLE’s exclusive actually said
The original PEOPLE story appeared one day after Justin and Hailey publicly announced that they were expecting their first child together. Citing an unnamed source, the article said the couple had “a name in mind” and believed it was “perfect.” It also reported that they had started decorating a nursery and were excited, emotional and “blessed” as they prepared for parenthood.

How the couple announced the pregnancy
Justin and Hailey announced the pregnancy on May 9, 2024, through corresponding Instagram posts featuring photographs and video from a vow-renewal ceremony in Hawaii. The images showed Hailey’s pregnancy and marked the first public confirmation that they were expecting.
The Associated Press reported at the time that a representative for Hailey said she was just over six months pregnant. That timing helps explain why the couple had already begun planning a nursery and had apparently settled on a name by the time the pregnancy became public. It does not, however, establish an exact conception date or expected delivery date.
Justin and Hailey had been married since 2018, according to the PEOPLE report. The pregnancy announcement therefore introduced a new chapter in a relationship that had already been public for years, while the couple continued to control how much personal information they shared.

The baby’s name was revealed in August 2024
On August 23, 2024, Justin announced the birth on Instagram with a photograph of the baby’s foot and the caption: “WELCOME HOME JACK BLUES BIEBER.”
CBS News reported the announcement as the arrival of the couple’s first child and identified the baby as Jack Blues Bieber. AP reporting carried by CityNews likewise reported that Justin shared the photograph and name.
Some outlets published the report on August 24 because of publication timing and time-zone differences. The initial AP-based coverage did not provide a confirmed exact birth date, and a representative did not offer further details. It is therefore more accurate to say that the birth announcement was made on August 23 than to assign a specific birth date without a newer direct confirmation.
Why is the baby named Jack Blues?
The couple have not publicly explained the full meaning of the name. E! noted that “Jack” may be connected to Justin Bieber’s father, Jeremy Jack Bieber, because Jack is also Jeremy Bieber’s middle name.

That is a reported possibility, not a confirmed explanation from Justin or Hailey. There is no reliable confirmation in the cited coverage that “Blues” refers to music, a family tradition or any other specific idea. The careful conclusion is simply that their son is named Jack Blues Bieber and that the possible family connection applies only to the first name.
What happened to the “name picked out” story?
The May 2024 report was not incorrect or incomplete in the sense of identifying a name: it said the couple had chosen one but deliberately withheld it. The later birth announcement supplied the information the exclusive did not—namely, that the name was Jack Blues Bieber.
In other words:
- May 9, 2024: Justin and Hailey publicly announced the pregnancy.
- May 10, 2024: PEOPLE reported that they had selected a name but did not publish it.
- August 23, 2024: Justin announced the birth and publicly revealed the name Jack Blues Bieber.
The sequence also shows why the original story should be treated as a historical pregnancy report, not as a current pregnancy update. The pregnancy resulted in the birth announcement later that year.
How private have Justin and Hailey been as parents?
Justin and Hailey have shared selected milestones while keeping much of their son’s life private. Later coverage summarized comments from both parents about adjusting to parenthood, protecting their child and choosing carefully what to disclose publicly. By February 2026, Us Weekly described them as parents to Jack Blues and reported that they continued to limit how much of his life they shared.

That approach is consistent with the way they handled the pregnancy and name: they announced major news themselves, but did not provide every personal detail. The public record confirms the pregnancy announcement, the later birth announcement and the child’s name; it should not be expanded with speculation about private family matters or an additional pregnancy.
