Julia Misley, formerly known as Julia Holcomb, opposed Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler’s 2025 effort to end her civil lawsuit before trial. The case has since changed: reporting in May 2026 said most claims had been dismissed, with part remaining for trial, and a judge’s September 2026 recusal forced the proceedings to be rescheduled. As of October 4, 2026, the cited reports do not confirm a replacement judge or a new trial date.
What did Julia Misley say in response to Steven Tyler’s 2025 motion?
In an August 8, 2025 report, Rolling Stone said Misley opposed Tyler’s motion for summary judgment, a request for a decision without a trial. Tyler’s lawyers argued in part that Misley was not a California resident and that the two had lived together in Massachusetts, whose age-of-consent law they invoked. Misley’s opposition argued that Tyler had raised the issue too late and that California public policy should not reward someone for moving a child to a state with less protection. These were the parties’ arguments as reported in 2025, not findings by the court. Rolling Stone, August 8, 2025.
Misley’s complaint alleges Tyler began a sexual relationship with her when she was 16 and he was an adult, along with related abuse and harm. Those are allegations in a civil pleading, not facts established at trial. Tyler’s legal arguments likewise should not be treated as court findings. The complaint is available as reproduced by her counsel in the complaint PDF.
Did the court dismiss the lawsuit?
The case did not remain in the posture described in the 2025 coverage. On December 19, 2025, MyNewsLA reported that a judge heard argument on Tyler’s motion seeking dismissal of all or part of the remaining case and took the matter under submission. MyNewsLA, December 19, 2025.
