Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution is best understood as a theatrical franchise event, not a self-contained anime movie: it condenses the Shibuya Incident and then screens the first two episodes of Season 3’s Culling Game Part 1. Early reviews praise its action, visuals and sound, but also flag rushed storytelling and lore that can leave newcomers behind. No formal ranking establishes it as “the most perfect anime film yet.”
What is Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution?
Distributor GKIDS describes Execution as a special compilation of the Shibuya Incident followed by the first two episodes of the anime’s “Culling Game Part 1.” It is therefore a recap-and-preview package built from the television series, rather than a standalone original story. The anime is based on Gege Akutami’s manga and animated by MAPPA.
GKIDS announced a North American theatrical release beginning December 5, 2025, with Japanese-language and English-dubbed versions. The Japanese release was November 7, 2025, under the longer title JUJUTSU KAISEN: The Movie – Shibuya Incident Special Edition x Culling Game Advance Screening. These past theatrical dates do not confirm where the film is currently available to watch.
The British Board of Film Classification lists an approximate runtime of 88 minutes for the 2025 film. Its UK listing gives a November 15, 2025 release date and warns of strong violence and bloody images, as well as horror and threat, language, discriminatory remarks, suicide and self-harm, injury detail, and flashing or flickering images. What do the first reviews say?
The reviews considered here converge on a clear trade-off: the film delivers spectacle and momentum, but its compressed format sacrifices some narrative clarity. Both critics and audiences may enjoy the action; viewers unfamiliar with the series face a steeper learning curve.
GamesRadar+: an effective teaser, with rushed explanations
In a review published November 14, 2025, GamesRadar+ praised the compilation’s high-energy feel and saw the hybrid as a successful teaser for what comes next. The reservation was that the Culling Game’s rules arrive too quickly, even though they will matter to the next season. The reviewer called the film “a net win,” while cautioning that the lore can be baffling to newcomers. Read the GamesRadar+ review.

The Guardian: strong audiovisual craft, difficult lore
Catherine Bray’s November 13, 2025 review for The Guardian questioned whether the hybrid is best thought of as a film assembled from television or a television installment presented on a cinema screen. For viewers arriving for action, that distinction matters less than the film’s visuals, sound design and voice acting, which she praised. But unfamiliar viewers may struggle to follow the lore. Read the Guardian review.

Is it worth watching if you have not seen the anime?
It may work as a loud, visually rich introduction, but the reviews do not suggest it is an easy entry point. The Shibuya material is condensed, and the film moves into Culling Game setup without the room a full season has to explain its rules and stakes. If you mainly want action and audiovisual spectacle, you may still enjoy it; if you want a coherent first encounter with the story and characters, start with the series instead.
Is it a real movie or mostly a recap?
It is a theatrical feature, but its contents are deliberately hybrid: a compilation of the Shibuya Incident followed by two Season 3 episodes. Calling it only a recap misses the new Culling Game material; calling it a self-contained movie misses how much it depends on the series and how quickly it moves through its setup.

Yes. GKIDS says the film includes the first two episodes of “Culling Game Part 1” after the Shibuya Incident compilation. That makes the film partly a theatrical preview of the next story arc, rather than only a recap.

What do “most perfect” claims mean here?
“The most perfect anime film yet” is a provocative opinion, not a verified industry ranking. The reviewed evidence supports a more measured description: critics valued the action, visuals and sound, while identifying fast pacing, compressed storytelling and difficult lore as significant limits. That balance makes Execution easier to recommend to existing fans seeking a theatrical event than to viewers expecting an accessible, self-contained film.
For readers who want to revisit the source, GKIDS identifies the anime as based on Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga. The manga is an optional route back into the franchise, not a requirement for watching this film.
