Sophie Turner is officially playing Lara Croft in Amazon’s forthcoming Tomb Raider series, and Amazon MGM Studios has released a first-look image as it announces that production is underway. The official announcement does not give the series a premiere date.
What does Sophie Turner look like as Lara Croft?
Amazon MGM Studios’ first-look image presents Turner as Lara Croft, the archaeologist and adventurer at the center of the series. It confirms Turner’s casting and offers an initial glimpse of her in the role; Amazon describes it as a first look, not a definitive account of the show’s final wardrobe.
Turner said: “I’ve been a longtime fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara,” said Sophie Turner, who will play the world-famous archaeologist and adventurer. “She has always felt for me, very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model!”
Is Amazon’s Tomb Raider series filming?
Yes. Amazon MGM Studios announced that production is underway alongside the first-look image. The project is a Prime Video television series based on the Tomb Raider video-game franchise, not one of the separately announced games.
