Has John Cena retired?
Yes—from in-ring competition. WWE’s current profile says Cena retired from in-ring competition at the end of 2025. WWE announced on September 30, 2025, that his final match would headline Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, 2025, at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The announcement set the date; WWE’s profile records the retirement as completed. WWE’s profile and WWE’s final-match announcement provide those details.
The distinction matters: retiring from wrestling matches does not mean retiring from acting or every form of WWE-related work. WWE describes Cena as an actor and bestselling author, and USA Network has referred to a WWE ambassador role; that source’s contract detail should not be treated as confirmation of a current arrangement.
