Johanne Sacreblu is a 28-minute Mexican satirical musical short created by Camila Aurora González, also known as Camila Aurora. It answers Emilia Pérez with a deliberately broad French caricature—and turns that choice into a joke about the cultural shorthand its creators criticized in the earlier film.
What is Johanne Sacreblu?
Johanne Sacreblu is a short musical comedy centered on Johanne and another trans character from rival French families. Their dispute concerns which bread should be France’s national bread: croissants or baguettes. Mimes, rats and berets round out its playful French-coded setting. Fast Company México described it as a 28-minute satire by Camila Aurora González and reported its YouTube premiere on 25 January 2025: Fast Company México.
The French imagery is not a guide to French people or culture. It is an intentionally exaggerated comic device: the short mirrors the use of instantly recognizable cultural markers that its creators objected to in Emilia Pérez.
Is it a parody of Emilia Pérez?
Yes. The short was presented as a satirical response to the feature film and to criticism of how that film portrayed Mexico. Forbes México summarized objections raised by Mexican critics, including concerns about stereotypes, the film’s Spanish, the limited Mexican presence in its cast and its treatment of forced disappearances. Those are reported criticisms, not a single settled judgment shared by every viewer: Forbes México.

The parody makes its point through contrast. Emilia Pérez is a feature film; Johanne Sacreblu is a short, openly comic musical that turns cultural shorthand back on itself. Both touch on identity and representation, but a joke about a film’s use of stereotypes does not make the parody’s own caricatures factual descriptions. Nor should either work be treated as representing every trans person’s perspective.
How was the short made and released?
El Universal reported that the short was written, filmed, edited and uploaded in one week. Its speed and small-scale production became part of the story around the film, but the reported timeline is not, by itself, evidence of how every production choice was made: El Universal.

Camila Aurora described the project’s low-budget spirit at a cinema event. The remark frames the short as encouragement for people making work without extensive production resources; it does not establish a general rule about what a film needs to succeed: El Informador.

- Cinemas: El Universal attributed attendance figures to Cinedot: 3,835 viewers at more than 30 screenings across six Cinedot complexes during a two-week run. This is the reported attendance for that run, not a count of all screenings or later distribution.
These figures show that the short reached audiences online and had a limited theatrical engagement. They should not be compared directly with Emilia Pérez box-office totals without matching the time period, geography, screen count and measurement method.

Was official merchandise released?
Yes, merchandise was reported in early 2025, but the reports do not establish current stock. El Universal described a T-shirt collaboration with Máscara de Látex and gave a price of 299 Mexican pesos in its 31 January 2025 article. That is the historical reported price, not a current offer: El Universal.
El Informador also reported mice and stickers sold at screenings, as well as posters in the cinema lobby. It distinguished official goods from shirts sold outside the venue, which it described as pirated. Neither report confirms what is currently available, so check for an authorized seller before buying.
