Joe Jonas joined PlanetPlay’s Make Green Tuesday Moves (MGTM) as its October 2024 “Star of the Month.” The campaign, announced on October 1, offered themed digital items in participating games, with PlanetPlay saying campaign proceeds would support certified sustainability projects. That was a dated activation, not confirmation that the Joe Jonas items are still available.

Did buying the items fund climate projects?
PlanetPlay said proceeds from the campaign would be invested in certified sustainability projects, naming reforestation, renewable energy and ocean cleanups. Its current Help Center gives a more specific accounting: 100% of PlanetPlay’s profit after developer revenue share and transaction costs funds Gold Standard-certified environmental projects. It lists cleaner energy, reforestation, water conservation and clean cooking among project categories. In other words, the current explanation is not that the entire purchase price goes directly to projects before those costs.
These are descriptions of PlanetPlay’s own funding practices; they do not independently audit the impact of each purchase made during the Joe Jonas activation. The Help Center’s explanation is available at PlanetPlay’s FAQ.

How the Joe Jonas campaign fits PlanetPlay’s current program
PlanetPlay now describes its broader initiative as Make Green Moves (MGM), a year-round program. The company says studios can take part through corporate contributions or by offering green-themed in-game items, downloadable content (DLC) or entire games. Its Help Center also lists PC games and digital items, mobile in-game purchases, and contributions or sponsorships as funding routes. The Joe Jonas campaign was one celebrity-led activation under the earlier Make Green Tuesday Moves name; it should not be confused with a current offer. See PlanetPlay’s program page for its current description.

PlanetPlay makes sustainability fun and rewarding, so what are you waiting for? Let’s make a difference together.” The report does not specify when or where he made the statement.
