In December 2024, Jessica Simpson teased new music with a caption calling it the “soundtrack of my soul.” PerthNow reported that some commenters reacted to her photo by saying they did not recognize her, while others had welcomed her Nashville studio updates. The post was a 2024 moment, not a new announcement: Simpson’s Nashville Canyon project arrived as two five-song EPs in 2025.
What Jessica Simpson posted in December 2024
PerthNow reporter Zach Margolius wrote on 18 December 2024 that Simpson had shared an Instagram photo showing her in fishnet stockings and platform boots. The caption, as reproduced by the outlet, read: “I can’t wait for y’all to hear the soundtrack of my soul 💿.” The story also referred to Nashville recording-studio photos Simpson had shared in November and quoted her describing the comeback as personal.

In another caption quoted by PerthNow, Simpson wrote: “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve 🎶 🎼 🤍🖤”. These captions framed the music as a personal return. PerthNow is the source for the post details and quotations; they are not independent verification of every Instagram detail. What the reported reactions did—and did not—show
PerthNow quoted individual commenters responding to the photo with remarks including “I thought this was Paris Hilton,” “I’m sorry. Who are you?” and “I don’t even recognise this person.” Those are examples selected and reproduced by the article, not evidence that fans generally found Simpson unrecognizable or that the reactions came from a poll. The same report included supportive responses to her Nashville studio announcement, including “FINALLY QUEEN.”

That mix is a more accurate account of the coverage than a claim that fans reacted as one. The article provides no count or share of positive and negative comments, and it does not establish how the releases performed with listeners.
The music teased in the post was released in 2025
Apple Music lists Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1 as a five-song EP released on March 21, 2025, and Nashville Canyon, Pt. 2 as a five-song EP released on September 5, 2025. Apple describes Pt. 1 as Simpson’s first record of original material since 2008’s Do You Know. The listings establish the dates and track counts, not chart results or audience reception.
| Release | Apple Music release date | Track count |
|---|---|---|
| Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1 | March 21, 2025 | Five songs |
| Nashville Canyon, Pt. 2 | September 5, 2025 | Five songs |
Why the Nashville recording approach mattered to Simpson
In a February 20, 2025 feature on Simpson’s official site, she said Nashville Canyon was recorded with live musicians at East Nashville’s Creative Workshop and RCA Studio B. Reflecting on how she had previously recorded, Simpson said, “I’d only worn headphones and had a track in my ear,” and, “I never got to feel the unearthing of a song and breaking it down.” The comments describe her own experience of the recording process, rather than making a claim about how listeners would respond. PerthNow placed the post in the context of Simpson’s earlier public career, including the song “With You,” her rendition of “These Boots Are Made for Walking” in the 2005 film The Dukes of Hazzard, and the 2003 premiere of Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. Apple Music lists “With You” on her album In This Skin. That provides a clear connection for listeners revisiting her earlier music, while Nashville Canyon is the later original-music project teased in 2024.
