According to Us Weekly, Zac proposed after about a year of dating at Top of the Rock in New York City, and the couple married at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple in 2019. TV Insider specifies June 2019. In 2025, Jen reflected that she married at 20 and that they had been married nearly six years, as reported by ABC News.
November 2021: Their first child is born

Us Weekly and TV Insider report that their son was born in July 2023. The outlets spell his name differently—Lucas and Luca—so this timeline uses neither spelling as definitive.
September 2024: The series puts their marriage in the spotlight
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiered on Hulu on September 6, 2024, according to Hulu. The first season brought the couple’s disagreements and marriage dynamics into public discussion. Us Weekly describes an on-screen conflict following a Las Vegas girls’ night. Jen later said that watching their relationship play out on camera prompted them to consider what needed to change: “Being on camera and having those moments happen made us take a step back and actually look at a relationship and make us just see what we have to change.”

Us Weekly also reported castmate Demi Engemann’s claims about messages and gambling. Those were allegations attributed to Demi, not established facts. Zac described the couple’s decision to join the show this way: “We were so vulnerable and we shared everything about our religion and our life and our marriage.”
Late 2024: Speculation about a split
Us Weekly reported that ring-free social media posts prompted speculation that the couple had split. It also reported that they moved from Utah to New York while Zac attended medical school. Jen described taking a break from social media as helpful to her mental health and the preceding months as difficult. A missing ring or reduced posting, on its own, does not establish that a couple has separated.

2025: They live apart and work on the relationship
TV Insider reported that Jen and Zac were living apart when season two returned in May 2025. The outlet attributed the decision to confronting behaviors brought to light by the first season and reported that they pursued therapy. In a May episode listing, The Viall Files described a conversation with the couple about how they met, joined the show and processed season one. These accounts describe a difficult period and efforts to address it; they do not establish a diagnosis or predict the marriage’s future.

Fall 2025 to August 2026: A move and the latest reported status
TV Insider says Zac supported Jen during her Dancing with the Stars run in fall 2025 and reports that the family moved from Utah to California. The outlet describes Jen as pregnant with a fourth child during the move. In its August 2026 update, TV Insider said the couple remained married while describing challenges and private matters they were navigating.
