What did Jason Kelce actually say?
In a post on X on October 14, 2025, Kelce warned that accounts were attributing fake quotes to him. Lead Stories reproduced his statement:
“I normally don’t comment on things like this, but I feel I need to address that there are a number of accounts posting fake quotes and attributing them to me on this platform right now. I appreciate @X putting community notes on several and I will not address the other accounts specifically, because I do not want to amplify their engagement. But please know, unless you hear something directly from me via one of my platforms, it is not real.”
Kelce did not address the Bad Bunny selection in that post. Treating his general warning as an endorsement or criticism of the halftime performer would go beyond what he said. Lead Stories’ fact-check and Scripps News’ report both distinguish the fabricated wording from Kelce’s actual post.

How the false quote circulated
Lead Stories traced an identical version of the quote to an X post dated October 12, 2025, and reported that it appeared in a Facebook post the following day with the caption “Jason Kelce came out swinging!” Kelce posted his warning on October 14. Scripps News, Parade and iHeartRadio reported on the denial on October 15.
These reports establish that the wording was circulating by October 12, not who first created it. The origin remains unclear; an early post is not proof that its account invented the quote.

Why Bad Bunny was part of the discussion
The fabricated quote circulated amid debate about Bad Bunny’s selection for the Super Bowl LX halftime show. Parade reported that the NFL announced the selection on September 28, 2025. That context explains why the wording attracted attention, but it does not make the quote authentic or connect Kelce to a position on the selection. Parade’s report covered Kelce’s response in that context.

Kelce’s own rule was straightforward: believe a statement attributed to him only if it comes directly from one of his platforms. For this particular quote, the fact-checking reports found no recording or statement from Kelce supporting the wording; Scripps News also noted that an X Community Note marked it unverified.

- Look for the statement on Kelce’s own platforms or in a recording, rather than relying on a repost or quote graphic.
- Check whether the post includes a link to the original source. A caption attributing words to him is not evidence that he said them.
- Keep the claim separate from the known context: the halftime-show debate does not verify a quote about it.
