That nomination window has closed, and the official awards site has published the winners. The available official information does not confirm whether another Australian edition is planned.
What the Food Hero Awards set out to recognise
The awards celebrated Australian work that puts children’s health first and helps build a healthier food culture. When nominations opened, Jamie Oliver described the aim as celebrating “the unsung food heroes who are positively changing the Australian food system.” PerthNow reported that Oliver praised work happening “from farm to fork” and highlighted educators, caterers and cooks helping children enjoy nutritious food. (PerthNow, 1 August 2024)
Who could enter, and when?
The official FAQ says the 2024 awards opened on 31 July and closed on 30 September. Anyone could nominate another person or apply on their own behalf, and entries could be made in more than one category. Eligible kinds of entrants included schools, nurseries and pre-schools, community projects, sports groups, food educators and individuals. The awards were Australia-only and entry was free. (Official awards FAQ)
The 2024 terms required a nominee to be an Australian resident and required nominators to get the nominee’s permission. They also set exclusions relating to criminal records and connections to the promoter, affiliates, agents or suppliers involved in the awards. The terms describe the 2024 edition only.
