The identity beneath the Hammer of Boravia’s armor is a film spoiler, revealed below.
The trailer sets up more than a clash between Superman and an armored opponent: Lois Lane challenges the consequences of his interventions, while Lex Luthor objects to Superman’s growing influence. The trailer identifies the armored figure as the Hammer of Boravia; DC later confirmed that Ultraman is behind the armor.
What does the trailer establish about Superman and Lois?
DC’s May 14, 2025 trailer breakdown describes the footage as built around an interview between Lois Lane and Superman. Lois asks difficult questions, and Clark says people were going to die. DC’s interpretation is that Lois presses him to consider the broader picture while he focuses on saving people. That tension makes the interview a debate about responsibility, not simply a pause between action scenes.
DC also suggests that Superman’s international humanitarian efforts may have unintended consequences. That is an interpretation of the trailer, not a confirmed, neutral account of the film’s full political storyline. The footage invites viewers to consider the difference between acting to prevent immediate harm and accounting for the wider effects of intervention.

What does Lex Luthor say, and what does it reveal about his opposition?
Nicholas Hoult plays Lex Luthor. In the trailer, Luthor says: “He’s not a man, he’s an ‘it’ that’s somehow become the focal point of the entire world’s conversation. I will not accept that.” The line is spoken by Luthor, not a statement by Hoult outside the story.
DC’s trailer breakdown reads the remark as resentment toward Superman’s prominence and as a driver of their rivalry. It establishes that Luthor opposes Superman and resents the attention he commands; the trailer commentary does not establish the full details of Luthor’s plan. DC also quotes Jonathan Kent telling Clark, “Your choices, your actions, that’s what makes you who you are.” In context, the line underscores the film’s focus on what Superman chooses to do, rather than treating his power as the whole measure of his character.

Who is the Hammer of Boravia?
In the trailer footage, the Hammer of Boravia is the armored identity presented to viewers. The May 2025 trailer analysis does not identify the person inside the armor. That distinction matters: the trailer’s evidence and the later film reveal are not the same thing.
Film spoiler: the identity behind the armor
In a July 14, 2025 post-release article, DC confirmed: “After the Hammer of Boravia retreats, we learn that it’s Ultraman behind the armor.” So Ultraman is the answer to who is beneath the Hammer’s armor, but that answer comes from the released film and DC’s later explanation—not from the trailer alone.
