The trailer was published January 25, 2024, ahead of the film’s Prime Video premiere on March 21, 2024. This is the new film, not the 1989 Patrick Swayze movie.
What the official Road House trailer shows
Dalton, played by Gyllenhaal, is an ex-UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. The trailer sets up a clash between the bar’s staff and a violent gang, turning the apparent island paradise into the setting for an escalating fight.
Prime Video’s trailer description calls the movie “an adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic.” Its official listing is “Road House – Official Trailer | Prime Video.”
When did Road House come out on Prime Video?
The trailer was published January 25, 2024, and promoted a March 21 opening. Amazon later confirmed that Road House premiered on Prime Video on March 21, 2024. The available sources establish a Prime Video premiere; they do not establish a theatrical release.

Is the 2024 Road House a remake of the Patrick Swayze movie?
Amazon describes the new film as a reimagining of the 1989 Road House and says it is based on that film’s screenplay, written by David Lee Henry and Hilary Henkin. That identifies a connection to the original without establishing that the 2024 movie follows it scene for scene.
The two films have different leads: Gyllenhaal plays Dalton in the 2024 film, while Patrick Swayze starred in the 1989 movie. The 2024 story places Dalton in the Florida Keys. The available information identifies the screenplay lineage but does not provide a full scene-by-scene comparison.
