Jack Black teased that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is packed with Easter eggs, but he did not identify particular scenes, hidden details or cameos in the interview report. Nintendo and Illumination have described the Galaxy games as a core inspiration—not the movie’s only source of Mario references.
What did Jack Black say about the movie’s Easter eggs?
In a GamesRadar interview report, Black, who returns as Bowser’s voice, said: “I am a sworn to secrecy, but there’s tons of Easter eggs, and anyone who loves that universe will be very pleased with the way that it’s been brought to the big screen.” His tease promises a wealth of references for fans, but it is not a list of what to look for. So if you are looking for a specific cameo or a scene Black confirmed, the report does not provide one. It supports the broad claim that the film contains many Easter eggs, not a claim that Black revealed any individual reference.
Are the references limited to Super Mario Galaxy?
No. Nintendo’s November 12, 2025 announcement quoted Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri: “While the Super Mario Galaxy games are a core inspiration for our story, this next film holds surprises for fans of every Mario era”. That framing makes Galaxy central to the film’s inspiration without implying that every Easter egg comes from those games. Nintendo’s announcement

When did the movie come out?
Nintendo’s September 12, 2025 announcement identified Jack Black among the returning voice cast and gave April 3, 2026 as the planned worldwide theatrical release date. That date has passed; it was the date in the original announcement, not an upcoming release. Nintendo’s announcement

How can you revisit the Easter eggs at home?
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment announced digital availability from May 19, 2026, and 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases from June 16, 2026. Its announcement describes more than an hour of bonus content, including a guided look at Easter eggs hidden throughout the film and cast interviews. These dates have passed, so check current listings for availability and confirm that a particular edition includes the advertised extras. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s announcement
The physical release is the most clearly documented option for viewers specifically interested in the bonus deep dive. The announcement names 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray, but does not establish which edition-specific disc contents are included, what playback equipment is required, or what is currently in stock.
