The clearest places to start are the official VIZ-backed Naruto channels on Pluto TV and Amazon Freevee, with additional free-with-ads listings on Tubi, The Roku Channel, and Fandango at Home Free.
There is one important limitation: this offer covers the original 2002 television series, not the entire franchise. Naruto: Shippuden is a separate 500-episode sequel and is not currently listed as free to stream in the United States.
Where to watch the original Naruto series for free
VIZ, the North American distributor behind the series, launched a dedicated Naruto channel on Pluto TV and Amazon Freevee in December 2023. The channel carries all 220 episodes of the original anime as free, ad-supported programming.
VIZ later confirmed that Freevee offered Naruto in two forms: a dedicated linear channel and on-demand viewing. Freevee programming can be accessed through the Freevee app, supported Fire TV devices, and the Prime Video interface where free-with-ads channels are available.

The strongest free options for viewers in the U.S. are:
| Service | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Pluto TV | Official VIZ-backed Naruto linear channel carrying the original 220-episode series. It may work more like a scheduled television channel than a complete on-demand season menu. |
| Amazon Freevee / Prime Video Free with Ads | VIZ-confirmed dedicated channel, with on-demand viewing also announced for Freevee. |
| Tubi | Listed in current U.S. availability data as a free-with-ads option for the original Naruto series. |
| The Roku Channel | Listed as another free-with-ads destination in current U.S. availability data. |
| Fandango at Home Free | Also listed as a free option for Naruto in the U.S. availability check. |
Catalogs, episode controls, subtitles, dubs, and channel schedules can differ between services. A listing for the show does not necessarily mean that every platform presents it in the same way.
What exactly is included?
The free offer covers the original Naruto television anime: 220 episodes released between 2002 and 2007. That is the series following Naruto Uzumaki as he trains to become a ninja and seeks recognition from his village.
It does not mean that every animated Naruto episode is free. The franchise is commonly discussed as one long story, but its major television installments are separate series:

- Naruto: Shippuden: 500 episodes and the direct sequel.

The current free U.S. listings apply to the original series. They should not be described as free access to Naruto: Shippuden, Boruto, or the complete Naruto saga.
How to start watching
- Choose a free service. Start with Pluto TV or Freevee because VIZ directly confirmed the dedicated Naruto channels there.
- Search for “Naruto.” Check that the result is the original series rather than Shippuden, a film, or a clip channel.
- Decide whether you want scheduled or on-demand viewing. Pluto TV’s dedicated channel may present episodes according to a schedule. Freevee may provide an on-demand route as well, depending on the current app and account experience.
- Expect advertising. These are free, ad-supported services, so commercial breaks are part of the arrangement.
- Check the episode list before settling in. Platforms can change catalogs and interfaces, and availability can vary by location, account, device, and date.
What “free” means here
These are legitimate, mainstream streaming services supported by advertising. You generally do not need to pay for a subscription to use the free-with-ads catalog, but the precise sign-in, device, and account requirements can vary.
Free does not guarantee:
- an ad-free stream;
- offline downloads;
- permanent availability;
- the same subtitle or dub options on every service;
- a complete season-by-season on-demand interface; or
- access outside the United States.
Pluto TV is particularly important to distinguish from a conventional streaming library: its official Naruto destination may operate as a 24/7 linear channel. That means you may join an episode already in progress or need to follow the schedule rather than select any episode instantly. Freevee’s announced on-demand viewing can be more convenient for viewers who want to choose where to begin, but its interface and catalog presentation can change.
Is Naruto: Shippuden free?
Not currently in the U.S., according to the cited availability data. Naruto: Shippuden contains 500 episodes and is listed on paid streaming services including Crunchyroll and Hulu, with purchase options also available. The free services carrying the original Naruto series should not be treated as a free route to all of Shippuden.

If your goal is to watch the story beyond episode 220, check the current U.S. listings for Crunchyroll or Hulu before subscribing. Streaming rights can change, and the exact availability may depend on the service, platform, or location.
Other ways to watch or own the series
Crunchyroll is another destination for Naruto and can be a better fit for viewers who prefer a conventional subscription library rather than a scheduled free channel. The precise free-versus-premium split may vary by country and platform, so it is safest to verify the current episode access directly.
Viewers who want permanent access, offline playback without relying on a streaming catalog, or a physical collection can also look for a correctly labeled Naruto complete series DVD or Blu-ray. Check the product description carefully: “complete series” can refer to a particular release or edition, and a listing should explicitly confirm which episodes and language tracks it includes.
For readers who want to experience the original story in its source format, a Naruto manga box set or collected edition is another option. The manga is not a replacement for watching the anime, and episode counts, adaptations, and pacing differ, but it provides a physical way to own and reread the original story.
Why the distinction matters
“Watch every episode of Naruto” can mean two different things. If you mean the original anime titled Naruto, the answer is now straightforward for U.S. viewers: all 220 episodes are available through several free-with-ads services.
If you mean the original series plus its sequel, the answer is different. The 220 free episodes are only the first television series; the additional 500 episodes of Shippuden are not currently included in the free U.S. offer. That distinction prevents a frustrating surprise after finishing the first 220 episodes.

Can I watch Naruto: Shippuden for free?
The current U.S. availability data does not list a free streaming option for Naruto: Shippuden. Its 500 episodes are listed through paid services such as Crunchyroll and Hulu, as well as purchase options.

Not necessarily. The official Pluto TV destination is a linear channel, so it may function like scheduled television rather than a full on-demand library. Channel schedules and platform features can change.

No. The verified free options are ad-supported, meaning viewers should expect commercial breaks. They also should not assume that free access includes downloads, permanent availability, or identical subtitle and dub choices across services.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: U.S. viewers can watch all 220 episodes of the original Naruto anime free with ads, with Pluto TV and Amazon Freevee the clearest places to begin. The deal does not cover the separate 500-episode sequel, Naruto: Shippuden.
