Where to watch IT: Welcome to Derry in the U.S.
The simplest way to watch the complete first season is with an HBO Max subscription. HBO’s current provider-access guidance also explains how subscribers can access HBO Max through participating television and streaming providers.
HBO Max
HBO Max is the direct streaming option for all eight episodes. The catalog and subscription prices can change, so check the service’s current U.S. plan page rather than relying on an old launch-period price.
#1 Best Overall
HBO through a cable or live-TV provider
If you already subscribe to HBO through a participating television provider, you may be able to activate HBO Max by connecting that provider account. The exact activation process depends on the provider; HBO’s support page lists the relevant account and provider instructions.
Prime Video Channels
Amazon subscribers can add HBO Max through Prime Video Channels and watch within the Prime Video app. A basic Amazon Prime membership does not automatically include the series; HBO Max is a separate channel add-on.
YouTube TV
YouTube TV viewers can add HBO Max to their membership. The show is not necessarily included with the base YouTube TV plan, so confirm that the HBO Max add-on is active before searching for the series.
Hulu and other bundles
HBO Max may also be available as an add-on through Hulu or other participating providers. Plans, prices, billing arrangements, and supported devices vary, so use the provider’s current plan information before subscribing.
Digital purchase and physical media
Current U.S. listings also show digital purchase options through Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. A digital purchase avoids the need for an active streaming subscription, but access remains tied to the retailer’s platform and may cost more than a month of streaming.
The complete first season was released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 5, 2026. Physical editions are useful for collectors and offline viewing, but availability and retailer stock can change; check the specific edition before buying. The release information is listed by Barnes & Noble.

Free streaming: No free U.S. streaming option was listed by JustWatch when it checked availability on July 28, 2026. That status can change as services update their catalogs.
Complete Welcome to Derry Season 1 release schedule
Season 1 contains eight episodes. The normal HBO rollout was one episode each Sunday at 9 p.m., but Episode 2 received an early Halloween release on HBO Max.
| Episode | Title | HBO date | HBO Max streaming date |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | “The Pilot” | October 26, 2025 | October 26, 2025, at the premiere time |
| 2 | “The Thing in the Dark” | November 2, 2025 | Early release: October 31, 2025, at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET |
| 3 | “Now You See It” | November 9, 2025 | November 9, 2025 |
| 4 | “The Great Swirling Apparatus of Our Planet’s Function” | November 16, 2025 | November 16, 2025 |
| 5 | “29 Neibolt Street” | November 23, 2025 | November 23, 2025 |
| 6 | “In the Name of the Father” | November 30, 2025 | November 30, 2025 |
| 7 | “The Black Spot” | December 7, 2025 | December 7, 2025 |
| 8 | “Winter Fire” | December 14, 2025 | December 14, 2025 |
Why does Episode 2 have two dates? HBO Max released “The Thing in the Dark” early on Halloween, Friday, October 31, at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET. Its regular HBO television broadcast remained Sunday, November 2, at 9 p.m. The dates are not contradictory: October 31 refers to streaming, while November 2 refers to the HBO broadcast.
Warner Bros. Discovery announced the Halloween exception in its official HBO Max release notice. The broader schedule and premiere timing were also reported by TheWrap.
What time did Welcome to Derry premiere in the U.S.?
The U.S. premiere was Sunday, October 26, 2025. It was listed for HBO television at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time, commonly written as 9 p.m. ET/PT. The simultaneous U.S. streaming conversion was approximately:
- 9 p.m. Eastern
- 8 p.m. Central
- 7 p.m. Mountain
- 6 p.m. Pacific
The distinction matters because “9 p.m. PT” is not the correct description of the U.S. streaming premiere. The streaming time was approximately 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, while the HBO linear-network listing used the 9 p.m. ET/PT format. Warner Bros. Discovery’s official series information confirms the premiere and finale dates.

Where to watch outside the United States
International rights are territory-specific. There is no single worldwide service or release time for Welcome to Derry, and the original launch platform may not reflect the current catalog in every country. These were the principal announced distribution arrangements:
| Territory | Service or broadcaster | Original launch information |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | Sky Atlantic and NOW | Premiere on Monday, October 27, 2025 |
| Canada | Crave | Premiere on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET/PT |
| Australia | HBO Max | First episode on Monday, October 27, 2025 |
| Italy | Sky and NOW | Available from October 27, 2025 |
| Selected Asia-Pacific markets | HBO Max where the service was available | October 27, 2025 premiere announcement |
Sky described the series as a Sky Exclusive available on Sky and NOW in the United Kingdom and Italy; see its regional announcement. Viewing details for the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia were also reported by Tom’s Guide, while Warner Bros. Discovery outlined the Asia-Pacific rollout in its HBO Max expansion announcement.
For countries not listed above, check the local HBO Max, Sky, NOW, Crave, or licensed broadcaster listing. Catalogs, subtitles, dubbing, dates, and subscription requirements can differ by location. A U.S. subscription does not automatically guarantee access when traveling, and using a VPN is not a substitute for a territory’s legitimate provider or its terms of service.
What is IT: Welcome to Derry about?
IT: Welcome to Derry is an HBO Original prequel series based on Stephen King’s IT novel and expanding the screen universe established by Andy Muschietti’s IT and IT Chapter Two. Season 1 travels back to 1962, exploring Derry’s history and the earlier horrors connected with Pennywise.

It is not a remake of either feature film, nor is it a scene-by-scene television adaptation of King’s novel. Instead, the series expands the mythology and history of Derry through a new period and a new group of characters. HBO’s original series announcement describes its relationship to King’s novel and the films.
The series is rated TV-MA, making it intended for mature audiences. Viewers who want to avoid spoilers can begin with the first episode without needing to revisit the two films, although familiarity with the broader IT story provides additional context.

Is Welcome to Derry Season 2 happening?
There is no publicly announced Season 2 release date. Do not treat a “2027” date appearing in third-party television-guide metadata as an official HBO announcement. A season-navigation tab or placeholder year is not confirmation of a renewal or premiere schedule.
The creators have discussed plans for a possible continuation set in 1935, another period in Derry’s history. Recent reporting describes the creative plans but does not establish an official HBO release date. For that reason, the accurate current wording is: Season 1 is complete, the creators have discussed exploring 1935 in a continuation, and HBO has not announced when—or in the available reporting, formally scheduled—Season 2 will arrive. See the reported creator discussions from GamesRadar+ and its follow-up report.
Which viewing option makes the most sense?
- Choose HBO Max if you only need streaming access to the full season.
- Use HBO through your television provider if you already pay for HBO and can activate the accompanying HBO Max access.
- Choose a Prime Video Channels or YouTube TV add-on if you prefer to keep billing and playback in an existing streaming or live-TV ecosystem. Both require the HBO Max add-on rather than only the base service.
- Buy the season digitally if you want access without maintaining a streaming subscription. Confirm which retailer account and devices support playback.
- Buy the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, or DVD set if you collect physical editions or want offline access. You will need compatible hardware, and some editions may have regional limitations.
Availability, prices, retailer stock, and platform policies can change after publication. The U.S. availability information in this guide was checked against current listings and should be confirmed at the time of viewing.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: You do not need to wait for IT: Welcome to Derry—Season 1 is finished and all eight episodes are available on HBO Max in the U.S. Its original premiere was October 26, 2025, at approximately 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, with the finale following on December 14.
