Why was the film moved to August?
The sources do not establish an official studio explanation for the final move. TheWrap’s April report said the August slot would give the film its own lane in the late-summer theatrical market; that was scheduling context, not a confirmed statement of Sony’s rationale. In January, TheWrap described the first delay as largely expected because the marketing campaign, including a trailer, had not begun with less than a month until the original February date. That earlier context does not, by itself, explain the later move from June to August.
What is the film about?
It Ends With Us is a 2024 drama-romance adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel. Blake Lively plays Lily Bloom, who starts a new life in Boston and pursues her dream of opening a flower shop. Justin Baldoni plays neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid. Sony’s synopsis says Lily begins to recognize aspects of Ryle that remind her of her dangerous father. The story engages with abuse, domestic violence, and generational trauma, as described in Netflix Tudum’s December 9, 2024 guide.
