Spoilers for Venom: The Last Dance, including both post-credit scenes. Venom appears to die in the film’s climax. He separates from Eddie Brock and sacrifices himself in an acid bath, destroying the xenophages and helping keep Knull imprisoned. Eddie survives. A later scene hints that a symbiote fragment may remain, but it does not confirm that the original Eddie-linked Venom has returned.
What happens to Venom in the ending?
Venom chooses sacrifice over escape. After separating from Eddie Brock, he enters an acid bath that destroys the attacking xenophages and protects the prison holding Knull. The sequence presents Venom’s death as a deliberate act that saves Eddie and prevents Knull’s immediate release.
TIME’s James Grebey described the climax on October 25, 2024, as Venom sacrificing himself in an acid bath that eliminates the xenophages and keeps Knull locked up. The film does not show Venom emerging from the bath or re-forming with Eddie afterward.
Eddie then reaches the Statue of Liberty and watches memories of his life with Venom. Those images function as a farewell to their partnership rather than a setup in which Venom secretly walks away from the sacrifice.

- In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel?s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.
Does Eddie Brock die too?
No. Eddie survives the acid-bath sequence and is shown alive afterward. The ending deliberately separates the human survivor from the symbiote who gives his life: Eddie is left alone, grieving and remembering their shared experiences.
That distinction matters because the film’s emotional loss is Venom’s apparent death, not the death of both halves of the partnership.

What does the cockroach post-credit scene mean?
The second post-credit scene returns to the destroyed Area 51 site. A cockroach crawls near a broken vial that previously held a symbiote sample. The image suggests that some symbiote material could have survived the destruction.
It is a tease, not confirmation of a resurrection. The scene does not show the fragment becoming Venom, finding Eddie, retaining Venom’s memories, or recreating the same bonded character. The most precise reading is that Venom dies as Eddie’s on-screen partner in the main story, while the film leaves open the possibility that symbiote matter remains.

What the first post-credit scene reveals about Knull
The first post-credit scene returns to Knull, who remains imprisoned and reacts to Venom’s death. His appearance confirms that the sacrifice has not killed him or ended his threat; it has kept him contained.
Knull’s reaction creates a possible future conflict, but it does not undo Venom’s sacrifice. The film closes its central story with Knull still locked away and Eddie separated from Venom.

Why Sony frames this as the end of the trilogy
Sony Pictures’ 2024 synopsis calls the movie the final film in the trilogy and says Eddie and Venom face “a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.” That wording supports treating the acid-bath sacrifice as the conclusion of their trilogy arc, even though the post-credit image preserves a small opening for future symbiote stories.

No authoritative Sony announcement confirms a fourth Venom movie starring Tom Hardy. Knull’s survival and the symbiote sample have prompted speculation, but neither image constitutes a studio confirmation. Any claim that Venom 4 is officially happening should be treated as unconfirmed until Sony publishes a formal announcement.

The clearest answer to the ending
Venom is dead in the straightforward, story-level sense established by Venom: The Last Dance: he gives himself up to destroy the xenophages and protect Knull’s prison. Eddie Brock lives, and the film leaves him mourning their relationship. The cockroach-and-vial image allows for a surviving fragment, but it does not prove that the original Venom has been resurrected.
