Spoiler warning: This ranking discusses major developments through the manga’s ending, including Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and the Shibuya, Culling Game, and final arcs. “Best” is subjective here: the order weighs character insight, narrative consequence, emotional force, memorability, and variety of tone.
Jujutsu Kaisen is Gege Akutami’s manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2018; VIZ lists Volume 30 as the final volume. You can check the licensed manga and volumes through the official VIZ franchise page or read available chapters via the VIZ Shonen Jump chapter page.
English wording can differ between VIZ/Shonen Jump manga text, anime subtitles, and dubs. The renderings below identify the version or commonly used translation where possible; compare the exact edition you are reading before treating punctuation or wording as definitive.

Gojo’s awakening turns a boast into a declaration of changed perception. The line is memorable because it captures both his overwhelming power and the isolation that comes with standing above everyone else. English versions vary slightly; this is the widely circulated rendering noted by this quote reference.

“Love is the most twisted curse of all.” — Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta’s story makes the idea literal: devotion, grief, and fear create Rika. The sentence gives the prequel its central thesis and reframes “love” as something capable of saving or destroying.

“Nah, I’d win.” — Satoru Gojo

Its clipped confidence became one of the series’ most recognizable lines. Depending on edition and subtitle track, wording and punctuation may differ; the phrase is widely documented as a common English rendering, including by this translation reference.

Todo’s absurd interrogation is a perfect introduction to his personality. Beneath the joke is his belief that a person’s taste reveals conviction, which is why the scene quickly becomes an unlikely friendship with Yuji.

“I hate overtime.” — Kento Nanami

Nanami’s running complaint sounds ordinary in a supernatural battle series, making it funny and human. It also defines his boundary: he will do the work, but he refuses to romanticize self-destruction.

“You are my younger brother.” — Choso

Choso’s certainty is initially played for disorienting comedy, then becomes emotionally consequential. The line turns manufactured kinship into a real moral obligation in his eyes.

The metaphor is characteristically pragmatic: opportunity requires a risk first. In the series’ bleak world, the line sounds encouraging and calculating at the same time.

Yuji’s instinctive morality contrasts with the elaborate theories of curses and fate around him. The simplicity is the point: he acts before institutions can tell him whom a life is worth.

This question exposes the identity crisis at the center of Gojo’s character. If strength defines him completely, then friendship, teaching, and ordinary human connection all become difficult to preserve.

Gojo tells his students that strength cannot be inherited as a substitute for understanding. The warning gains additional weight as the story repeatedly shows powerful characters isolated by their roles.
How to check a quote’s exact wording
- For print or digital manga: use the VIZ volume or chapter in which the scene appears; chapter availability can vary by location.
- For the anime: note whether you are quoting the official subtitle track or the English dub, since phrasing is not always identical.
- For short viral lines: treat quote roundups as pointers, not primary text. Confirm the sentence in the licensed edition before publishing or citing it.
Where the series officially stands
VIZ identifies Akutami as the creator and lists Volume 30 as the manga’s final volume, along with official character and anime guides: VIZ’s Jujutsu Kaisen page. The Japanese publisher’s series listing records the manga’s 2018 serialization start in Weekly Shonen Jump: Shueisha’s official series page.
