What happened to the Cold Case reboot?
TVLine reported on September 18, 2024, citing Deadline, that CBS was not moving forward with the reboot. TVLine said representatives for CBS and Warner Bros. Television had not immediately responded to its request for comment. The report did not give a reason for the decision.

The latest status established by that report is that CBS passed. It does not establish whether another buyer later revived the idea, so the proposal should not be described as an active series or as definitively canceled everywhere.
What was planned for the reboot?
In an April 12, 2024 report, TVLine said CBS was developing a reboot, citing Deadline. The proposed show would have followed a new team of detectives investigating unsolved cases in the Southwest, rather than returning to the original series’ Philadelphia setting.

Meredith Stiehm, creator of the original series, was reportedly set to write and executive-produce. Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed were also reportedly attached as executive producers. Does “14 years after the show ended” fit?
The original series ran from 2003 to 2010, according to TVLine. The proposal was reported in April 2024, roughly fourteen years after the 2010 end year; the exact interval depends on the date of the finale. The phrase describes the approximate gap, not a confirmed anniversary or a reboot launch.
