No new scripted Stranger Things movie is established by this announcement. The “movie” is One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, a behind-the-scenes documentary about the final season. Netflix lists its release date as January 12, 2026.
What Netflix announced
One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 documents the making of the series’ final season; it is not described as a continuation of the fictional story. Netflix calls it “a sweeping behind-the-scenes chronicle” following the cast, creators, and crew as they bring Season 5 to life and say goodbye to the show. Netflix lists Martina Radwan as director and MakeMake as the production company. Netflix Media Center
When and where to watch the documentary
Netflix lists January 12, 2026 as the documentary’s release date and identifies it as a Netflix title. Catalog availability can change by date and region, so check Netflix for current access. Netflix Media Center
How the documentary differs from the finale
Netflix’s January 1, 2026 final-season guide said the series finale and every other episode were then streaming. It also referred to finale fan events in select theaters on December 31 and January 1. Those events were screenings of the series finale, not evidence of a newly announced scripted feature film. Netflix’s final-season guide

Is a scripted Stranger Things movie confirmed?
The cited Netflix announcement and final-season guide establish a making-of documentary and the finale’s release and fan events. They do not establish an announcement of a separate scripted Stranger Things movie. The headline’s use of “movie” refers to the documentary, not a new chapter in the show’s fictional story.
