The show’s March 16, 2026 After the Oscars episode is a past special, not a newly announced upcoming event. ABC’s announcement described it as part of the program’s special-event format and identified WABC-TV in New York as its producer.

ABC/Disney reported 2.334 million total viewers for the week of September 7, 2026, compared with 2.248 million in the year-ago premiere week. The release attributes those figures to Nielsen National Live+Same Day Big Data Plus Panel Program Ratings. These are network-reported figures for that comparison period; they are not a renewal announcement or proof of what ABC will decide after Season 39.

Because that page also displays broad overview metadata reading “Release Date: 2023–2025,” which conflicts with its 2026 episode records, the dated episode entries are the more useful indication of recent catalog activity.
