No official update cited here says Jubal Valentine is leaving FBI. Instead, CBS’s Season 8 premiere description says he takes on a new leadership role. The Season 7 finale leaves his safety and the New York field office’s security in question, but that cliffhanger is not confirmation of his departure.
Why Jubal’s fate feels uncertain after the Season 7 finale
Season 7 ends with “A New Day,” which CBS lists as its finale, dated May 20, 2025. The official synopsis says Jubal narrowly escapes an assault and the team uncovers an infiltration of the FBI. CBS’s publicity frames the danger as a threat to the New York field office, with the team working in the shadows to identify those behind it.

That setup creates suspense about the characters’ safety and the office’s security. It does not, on its own, say that Jubal is leaving the series. CBS’s Season 7 episode guide, the official “A New Day” listing, and CBS’s episode publicity describe the finale’s danger and investigation, not a confirmed exit.
What CBS’s Season 8 update says about Jubal
CBS identifies “Takeover,” dated October 13, 2025, as the Season 8 premiere. Its episode description says: “Meanwhile, reality weighs heavy on Jubal as he takes on a new leadership role.” That points to a changed responsibility for Jubal, not an announced departure. The description does not specify the role’s duties or say that it removes him from the team.

#1 Best Overall
Read the update alongside the finale, and the distinction matters: the cliffhanger raises questions about what Jubal and the office will face, while the premiere description indicates that he remains part of the story in a leadership capacity. CBS’s Season 8 episode guide is the official listing for the follow-up season.
Does Jeremy Sisto still play Jubal Valentine?
Paramount Global Content currently lists Jeremy Sisto as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine and identifies FBI as a Season 8 series. Its listing also gives October 5, 2026, as the Season 9 premiere date. These official materials support the conclusion that the available update is about a new role for Jubal, not evidence that Sisto or the character has departed.
