There is no verified evidence in the sources reviewed of a confirmed discovery+ service-wide outage as of August 18, 2026. That does not rule out a local, account-specific or regional problem—or an incident that began after that check. If discovery+ is failing for you, compare devices and networks before assuming the whole service is down. The discovery+ Help Center has official troubleshooting steps for common playback, sign-in and app problems.
Is discovery+ down right now?
The available evidence does not independently confirm a platform-wide outage as of August 18, 2026. The official Help Center is accessible and offers active troubleshooting guidance, but that alone does not prove that playback is working for every subscriber. No real-time incident notice or outage graph was available in the sources reviewed, so a current disruption cannot be ruled out.
To see whether the fault is likely broader than your setup, try this quick check:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Open discovery+ on a second device, such as a phone if the TV app is failing.
- Try both the app and discoveryplus.com, where your subscription allows direct sign-in.
- Switch networks—for example, from Wi-Fi to cellular data.
- Try more than one show or episode.
- Check whether other websites and streaming apps work.
- Look for an announcement from discovery+ support. User-report surges can be a useful clue, but isolated reports do not prove a service-wide outage or establish its cause.
If several devices fail across different networks and multiple titles will not play, an account-side or service-side problem becomes more plausible. If only one TV, browser or app fails, start with that device. A single unavailable title can reflect catalog rights or regional restrictions rather than an outage.

Try these low-disruption fixes first
- Check whether other apps and websites work on the same network.
- Close discovery+ completely and reopen it; restart the device if needed.
- Sign out and back in, if you can access the account.
- Try another title to see whether the issue affects one video or all playback.
- Test discovery+ on another device or browser, then on another network.
- Check for an app update and install any available device operating-system update.
These checks help isolate the cause before you clear data or reinstall. Clearing app data may sign you out or remove local settings, so make sure you have your login details first. Reinstalling will not fix a service-side, account, compatibility or regional problem.
If videos buffer, pause or load slowly
Buffering may be connected to Wi-Fi quality, available connection speed, competing network traffic or device memory; it does not automatically mean discovery+ is down. The official buffering guidance recommends checking the connection, trying another network and reducing other network activity.
- Check Wi-Fi strength near the device. If possible, try Ethernet on a computer or another wired setup.
- Pause downloads, game updates or other heavy network activity, then retry.
- Sign out of discovery+, sign back in and test again.
- Close discovery+ and turn off the playback device.
- Unplug the modem, router and relevant device. Wait 30 seconds, reconnect the equipment and turn the device back on.
If other streaming apps also struggle on the same Wi-Fi but work on cellular data, your home network is a stronger suspect. A router restart is a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed fix; upgrading your internet plan or buying new equipment is not justified by buffering alone.

If the app crashes or gets stuck loading
For a crash, blank screen or endless loading state, close the app or browser window, then reopen it. The official crash and loading instructions suggest clearing the device’s data and cache, reopening the app or reloading the page, and trying a video again.
Cache and data controls differ by device. Clearing data can remove your sign-in state and local settings, so have your credentials ready. If the problem persists, test another device or supported browser before reinstalling; that helps distinguish a device-specific problem from one affecting the account or service.
If you contact support, include the title or episode, device, and installed app version. Mention whether the app crashes immediately or only when playback begins.

If you cannot sign in or activate a TV
For a direct discovery+ web login, go to discoveryplus.com/login, enter your account email, select Continue, enter your password and select Sign In. Then choose a profile. The exact TV activation method varies by device; if the TV displays a QR code or six-digit code, leave that screen open, scan the code or visit discoveryplus.com/signin, follow the prompts and finish by selecting a profile on the TV. See the official sign-in instructions.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If the password is the problem, reset it. Discovery+ says a new password must be at least 8 characters and contain an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number. If the reset email does not arrive, check spam, promotions and other inbox folders, and confirm you entered the email linked to the account. The password guidance has more details.
Important provider-billing exception: If you subscribed through Amazon Prime Video Channels or The Roku Channel, you may need to watch through that provider’s app instead of signing in directly to discovery+. Check where the subscription was purchased before changing passwords or assuming your account is broken. See discovery+’s sign-in troubleshooting guidance.

Match the error to the likely cause
Discovery+ lists separate help topics for errors including “no internet connection,” “too many streams,” “video not available,” DRM failures, Apple playback error 11819 and Roku loading problems. The technical-issues index is the best place to find the article for the exact message. These errors do not all mean the service is down:
- “Video not available” on one title: Try another show. If others work, the issue may be title-specific, regional or related to catalog availability.
- “Too many streams”: Check whether playback is active on another device and follow the account-specific guidance in the Help Center.
- “No internet connection”: Check whether the device can reach other services, then test a different network. The app’s message does not by itself show whether the fault is with your network or discovery+.
- DRM error: Digital-rights checks can fail because of regional or title restrictions, an older device, or an HDMI connection—not just an outage. Discovery+ suggests turning off the playback device and TV, disconnecting HDMI at both ends, turning the devices back on, reconnecting the cable and retrying. See the DRM troubleshooting page. Casting or HDMI playback can fail even when playback on a phone works.
- Apple TV or iOS
AVFoundationErrorDomain-11819: On Apple TV, unplug both the TV and Apple TV for 2 minutes, reconnect them, then reopen discovery+. On iPhone or iPad, hold the side button and one volume button, drag the power-off slider, wait 10 seconds, turn the device back on and retry. Follow the official 11819 steps. - Roku, Android TV, Fire Tablet or another TV app will not load: Test another device and check for an app update before concluding that a particular platform is broadly affected. The Help Center’s app-update instructions describe a newer design with a blue-background logo; on Android TV and Fire Tablet, users may need to remove an older black-background app and install the newer version. This guidance is device-specific, not a requirement to reinstall on every platform.
When is it likely a discovery+ problem?
A service-side disruption becomes more likely if multiple titles fail on the website and apps, across unrelated devices and more than one network, while other online services work. Corroborated reports from people in the same region or an official discovery+ acknowledgment add evidence. Even then, call it a likely or reported disruption unless discovery+ or strong independent evidence confirms its scope and cause.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If you see this pattern, avoid repeatedly resetting a working router or buying a new device. Keep note of the time, region, error message and tests you have already tried. Recheck official support for an update. Any claim that an outage is happening or has been resolved should be tied to dated, time-zoned evidence; an older report does not establish the current status.

Contact discovery+ support
If the issue continues after the relevant checks, use the discovery+ North American support request page or the support option for your country. The North American page lists chat availability from 6 a.m. to midnight Eastern Time; hours and support coverage may differ elsewhere. It says its team supports the North American app and notes that VPN use can affect which regional support page appears.
To help support narrow down the problem, provide:
- Your country and region.
- Device make and model, and app version; for browser playback, the browser and version.
- The exact error text or code, plus the show and episode affected.
- Whether other titles, devices or networks work.
- How you subscribed—directly or through a provider such as Amazon, Roku, Spectrum or Verizon.
Turn off a VPN while testing if you can do so safely and legally; a masked location can affect regional availability and which support channel you see. Do not treat a VPN as an outage fix.
