No public terms establish that Conan O’Brien’s net worth is set to double. The headline appears to point to SiriusXM’s 2022 acquisition of his Team Coco podcast network and digital media business, but the company did not disclose the purchase price or O’Brien’s personal proceeds. The announcement does describe a five-year talent agreement and plans for his continued podcasting and a SiriusXM comedy channel.
What prompted the “double his net worth” claim?
On May 23, 2022, SiriusXM announced that it had acquired Team Coco, the podcast network and digital media business led by O’Brien. The announcement paired the acquisition with a separate five-year talent agreement for O’Brien. It did not say the deal would double his wealth, disclose what SiriusXM paid, or provide a valuation of his personal assets. SiriusXM’s acquisition announcement is the primary public account of the deal.
What did the SiriusXM agreement include?
Team Coco’s business and content
SiriusXM said it acquired Team Coco, including the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend and the network’s digital media business. The announcement also referred to selected podcast video, material from O’Brien’s TBS show archive, live events, and merchandise as part of the broader content and distribution plans.
O’Brien’s separate talent agreement
Under the five-year talent agreement described in the 2022 announcement, O’Brien would continue hosting his podcast, which would remain widely available, and collaborate with SiriusXM on an original Team Coco comedy channel for subscribers. These are commitments about programming and work; the announcement does not give a salary, bonus, equity stake, or other payment amount.

Audience figures are not financial terms
To explain Team Coco’s reach, SiriusXM reported more than 1 billion annual video views across YouTube and Facebook, 180 million annual podcast downloads, and 17 million fans reached across social media. Those are company-reported audience figures in the 2022 announcement—not the acquisition price, revenue, profit, or O’Brien’s share of any proceeds.
What happened after the announcement?
In November 2022, SiriusXM announced the launch of Team Coco Radio, a comedy channel executive produced by O’Brien, with Team Coco podcasts, archive material, and commentary. The launch announcement again described the five-year talent agreement. SiriusXM’s launch announcement documents that programming step.

SiriusXM’s current Conan O’Brien host page lists programming including Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, The Conan and Jordan Show, and Words and Music. A listing confirms an official programming presence; it does not establish what the acquisition was worth or how O’Brien’s personal finances have changed.

An acquisition of a business is not the same as a disclosed payment to its founder or host. The public materials cited here do not establish Team Coco’s sale price, O’Brien’s ownership share, the portion of any proceeds he received, taxes or liabilities, or the value of his other assets. Without those figures, there is no sound basis to calculate a personal net-worth increase from this deal, much less conclude it would be a doubling.

The announcement includes comments from O’Brien and SiriusXM content chief Scott Greenstein about their partnership and programming plans. Neither comment forecasts that O’Brien’s net worth would double. Any exact current net-worth figure or claim of a guaranteed doubling would therefore go beyond what these official materials support.
