The Last Frontier was reported canceled after one season on December 19, 2025, by 9to5Mac, which attributed the news to Variety. Apple’s reviewed materials identify the December 5 episode as the season finale but do not announce the cancellation. No reason for the reported decision has been established.
Is The Last Frontier canceled?
It was reported canceled after its first season. 9to5Mac reported the news on December 19, 2025, crediting Variety. That is secondary reporting, not an official cancellation announcement from Apple in the materials reviewed.
Apple’s official listing calls “Everything Trying,” released December 5, 2025, the season finale. That label confirms the first season’s endpoint, but it does not by itself confirm whether the series will return. Apple TV’s series listing
Will there be a season 2?
There is no verified season 2 announcement in the sources reviewed. Because the cancellation report is attributed to Variety rather than announced in the cited Apple materials, the most precise answer is that the series was reported canceled and no second season has been announced in those materials.

Why was it canceled?
No official reason was established. 9to5Mac relayed IMDb episode scores of 7.7 for the debut and 6.2 for the finale and described the show as losing initial momentum. Those are user-rating scores, not audience figures or evidence that ratings caused Apple’s decision. Neither Apple nor the cited reporting substantiated a specific rationale such as viewership, cost, or reception.
What was the first season about?
Apple’s thriller follows Frank Remnick, played by Jason Clarke, the lone U.S. marshal in Alaska. After a prison transport plane crashes in remote wilderness and frees dozens of inmates, Remnick suspects the crash was planned. Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio co-created the series; Apple Studios produced it.
