Em junho de 2024, internautas pediram nas redes sociais que o Rock in Rio retirasse Oruam da programação, após o Wehoo Festival cancelar a apresentação do rapper. O cancelamento confirmado era o do Wehoo — não o do Rock in Rio. A apresentação de Oruam no festival carioca ocorreu em 13 de setembro de 2024, no Palco Sunset.
O que motivou os pedidos nas redes
A repercussão começou depois que o Wehoo Festival, em Recife, anunciou em 6 de junho de 2024 o cancelamento do show de Oruam. Em comunicado reproduzido pelo UOL/Splash, o festival afirmou: “Concluímos que esta decisão reflete os valores e princípios que promovemos, considerando que alguns posicionamentos e declarações do artista não se alinham com esses aspectos.” A organização acrescentou que pretendia representar o público com “diversidade, inclusão e respeito”. Essa foi a justificativa do evento para sua própria decisão.
Após o anúncio, Oruam criticou o festival e convocou seguidores a atacarem ou denunciarem perfis nas redes, segundo a cobertura do UOL/Splash. A controvérsia também envolvia a defesa que o rapper fez de Neymar durante a discussão pública do jogador com Luana Piovani.

Em 7 de junho, o Metrópoles relatou pedidos de usuários para que o Rock in Rio cancelasse o show.
