Usain Bolt did not buy the penthouse commonly described as his “$2 million” home. Reports say he rented The Sky House in Point Frederick, New South Wales, for a short stay while trialling with the Central Coast Mariners in 2018. The dollar figures attached to the property are Australian dollars: a reported 2017 sale price, a 2018 weekly rent and a separate 2019 asking guide.
Where was Usain Bolt’s penthouse?
The Sky House is in the Araluen apartment complex at Point Frederick, on Australia’s Central Coast. Nine’s September 2018 feature described it as a penthouse occupying the building’s entire top floor. Nine’s feature on the penthouse reported panoramic water views and an area of 1,089 square metres.
What was inside The Sky House?
The reported layout included five bedrooms and four bathrooms, with a wraparound balcony overlooking the water. Domain’s account of the property’s 2017 listing described a private heated outdoor spa, lawn and covered deck, a master suite with walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, and a kitchen with Caesarstone benchtops and Miele appliances. The listing also mentioned a three-car garage and private lift access. These are property features reported in listing coverage, not evidence that Bolt owned or personally designed the home. Did Usain Bolt buy the penthouse?
No purchase by Bolt is established in the reports. Coverage says he rented the apartment while trying out for the Central Coast Mariners in 2018; Urban described his stay as lasting a couple of months. A 2019 report said the rent was about A$1,800 per week. Urban’s 2019 report on the property

Why is it called a $2 million penthouse?
The shorthand points to reported Australian-dollar property figures, but they refer to different dates and types of transaction. The 2017 sale preceded Bolt’s reported tenancy; the later marketing guide was an asking range, not a completed sale.
| Figure | What it refers to |
|---|---|
| A$1.9 million | Domain reported a sale in August 2017. |
| About A$1,800 per week | Urban reported the approximate rent in 2018. |
| A$2.5 million–A$2.7 million | Urban reported the 2019 marketing guide. |
These reports give Australian-dollar amounts; they do not establish an exact US-dollar value or a price Bolt paid. A sale price, weekly rent and asking guide are not interchangeable measures.

No. The Australian penthouse is a separate, temporary 2018 rental reported during his football trial. BBC Sport and GQ profiles from November 2016 placed Bolt’s home in Kingston, Jamaica, but those historical accounts do not establish where he lives today or connect that residence with The Sky House.
