Its gallery contains 275 images, with photographers credited in captions, including Poupay Jutharat and Hunter Abrams. Vogue’s separate photographer’s edit adds Jutharat’s recollections of moments she witnessed while working the gala.
For a second, independently published source with captions identifying attendees, see the Associated Press’s photo gallery and event report. It includes images of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, Rihanna, Diana Ross, Serena Williams, and others. These galleries are useful for different reasons: Vogue offers a large inside-event collection and a photographer’s personal account, while AP provides captioned event photographs.
The candid moments the photographer recalls
In Vogue’s photographer’s edit, Jutharat describes being present when A$AP Rocky and Rihanna were together in a hallway before they left. She also says she loved the moment of Stella McCartney kissing Rihanna’s baby bump, calling it cute. These are Jutharat’s recollections of what she saw; they should not be expanded into claims about what the people involved said or intended.

Jutharat also recounts seeing Leonardo DiCaprio while packing equipment and Sabrina Carpenter dancing near her as she photographed Usher on stage. Her edit is a photographer’s account of the night, not a complete record of every candid moment at the gala.
What about the bathroom selfies?
The available galleries and reporting cited here do not establish which specific bathroom selfie the title might refer to, or verify that a particular attendee took one. A photo should be identified from its image and caption, not from a search-result description or an assumption about who was in the room. Without that verification, naming someone would risk attaching the wrong person to an image.

Why the gala was held
The event took place at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5, 2025, in celebration of the Costume Institute exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. The exhibition, scheduled to run May 10 through October 26, 2025, explored clothing and style in the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora through 12 characteristics of Black dandyism. The gala’s dress code was “Tailored For You”—a dress code, not the exhibition title. Vogue named Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams as co-chairs.
As guest curator Monica Miller explained in Vogue’s April 16, 2025 feature, “The kind of dictionary definition of dandyism is somebody who studies, above all else, to dress elegantly and fashionably.” She added, “When the dandy is black, we get to see the dandy as a figure that really encapsulates a kind of matrix of identity, race, gender, class, sexuality, and sometimes nation.” This context helps explain the exhibition’s focus; the inside photos capture the event that celebrated it.

The gala’s reported fundraising total
The Associated Press reported that the 2025 gala raised a record $31 million for the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute. That is AP’s reported total for the event.
