Tammy Slaton said on an episode aired April 15, 2025, that she had lost 500 pounds and weighed 238 pounds. That is a dated statement from the 1000-Lb. Sisters star, not confirmation of her weight today. Her journey unfolded over several years, with reported milestones ranging from a 559-pound Season 1 finale weigh-in to a later family weigh-in at 303 pounds.
How much weight has Tammy Slaton lost?
In the April 15, 2025 episode, Tammy said, “I’m down 500 pounds now,” and stated that she weighed 238 pounds. Us Weekly reported her statement on April 16, 2025. The 238-pound figure describes what she said at that time; it should not be read as an independently verified or current weight.
Her reported starting or highest weight varies by source and point in the timeline. Women’s Health reported in January 2025 that her highest weight was 725 pounds, citing a 2024 People interview. An August 2024 Parade story gives 717 pounds as her heaviest. The sources do not reconcile the difference, so the clearest summary is that reports place her above 700 pounds at her heaviest.

The figures come from different episodes and reports, not one continuous set of medical measurements. TLC’s timeline, Women’s Health and Us Weekly describe these milestones:

These milestones should not be forced into a single precise calculation. The sources report different points in time and use different descriptions of her starting weight. None of the figures listed here comes from an independently reviewed clinical record.
Rehabilitation, surgery and the work behind the change
Rehabilitation and preparation
Women’s Health reports that Tammy entered a facility for food-addiction rehabilitation in 2021, left early and later returned. After her health worsened, she experienced a medically induced coma. The same outlet says she lost 115 pounds before entering a facility in 2022. Woman’s World reports that she spent 14 months in rehabilitation.

Gastric bypass
Tammy underwent gastric bypass in 2022. Women’s Health dates the operation to July, while Woman’s World describes it as taking place in summer 2022 and Us Weekly reports that it occurred later that year. These accounts establish the year, but do not provide a single consistent exact date.
Her surgeon, Eric Smith, MD, discussed a weight-loss injection only as a possible add-on if she had a residual medical problem or reached a plateau. That conditional comment does not establish that Tammy used Ozempic or another medication. Women’s Health reported the surgeon’s comments on October 29, 2024.

How her mobility and daily life changed
Weight-loss milestones were accompanied by changes in what Tammy said she could do. After 14 months in rehabilitation, TLC’s timeline says she returned home and could sit in a car seat for the first time in 15 years. In a 2024 People interview quoted by Woman’s World, she described walking without a walker, no longer needing oxygen during the day and fitting into a regular vehicle without a seat-belt extender. She also said, “What seems minor to some people is giant for me.” These are her reported experiences, not a medical assessment of her overall health.
What Tammy has said about the mental side
Tammy has spoken publicly about depression, food addiction and turning to food when she was struggling. In Parade’s August 2024 coverage of her comments, she said, “The mental aspect of it does play a lot,” and, “I did turn to food for a little bit. But I realized it. Now, I’m back on track.” She has also described support from people with similar experiences as helpful. These are her personal reflections, not a clinical explanation that can be applied to other people’s weight or health.

TLC’s evolving series timeline describes Tammy’s planning for skin removal, approval and later surgery. Woman’s World reports that the show’s June 10, 2025 season finale showed her seeing herself after the procedure. The accounts establish that skin-removal surgery became part of her later journey, but do not establish a fully consistent exact operation date. Skin removal is distinct from the weight-loss milestones above; it should not be counted as part of the pounds she said she had lost.
