Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Montecito home was reported to have sold off-market in June 2020 for $14.65 million. Coverage described a gated, hedged property with a roughly 14,500-square-foot main house, a separate guesthouse and extensive recreational and spa amenities. Those details come from 2020 reporting and listing descriptions; they do not establish the home’s present condition or contents.
What was reported about the purchase?
The Los Angeles Times reported that the estate closed in an off-market sale in June 2020 for $14.65 million. The newspaper said tax records for a seven-acre property matched limited liability companies Meghan Markle had previously created. That was the Times’ account of the records, not a separate title investigation here.
The purchase price was below the property’s reported 2020 asking price. The Irish Times said it had been relisted for $16.975 million and sold for $2.325 million less; the Los Angeles Times reported that an earlier asking price had reached $34 million, while The Irish Times put the high at $34.5 million. Those are historical asking prices, not sale prices or current valuations.
How large is the property and main house?
The Los Angeles Times described the estate as seven acres, while The Irish Times reported 7.4 acres. The reports therefore do not establish one precise acreage figure. Both described a main house of about 14,500 square feet.

Room counts also depend on which report and part of the property is being described. The Times specified nine bedrooms in the main house. The Irish Times reported nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms for the home. The figures should not be read as a verified count for every building on the estate.
What features did 2020 coverage describe?
The Los Angeles Times portrayed the residence as a gated and hedged property reached by a winding, stone-paved drive. Its account described a living room with a coffered ceiling, a billiards and game room, home theater, spa facilities, elevator and gym. It also reported a separate two-bedroom guesthouse, a tea house, tennis court, pool and custom jungle gym.

The Irish Times relayed details from Zillow listing copy that added a library, office, dry and wet saunas, arcade, wine cellar and five-car garage. The listing description also mentioned rose gardens and plantings that included cypress, lavender and olive trees. These are reported listing features, not a current inspection or confirmation that every amenity remains unchanged.

In an August 21, 2026 report, realestate.com.au cited a Realtor.com automated estimate of $23.4 million. That figure is a model estimate reported by the outlet, not an appraisal or a completed transaction. Automated estimates may not capture private improvements or a celebrity-related premium.
The same report quoted forensic real estate appraiser Orell Anderson, president of Strategic Property Analytics, Inc., on how he would approach a high-end property: “At this end of the market, I’d start with the land, not the house,” and “The house can be changed. The land cannot.” Anderson discussed land, privacy, views, acreage and access as factors buyers might weigh; the article did not establish a new appraisal of the estate.
August 2026 coverage also differed on whether a sale might be contemplated. A realestate.com.au report published August 20 relayed speculation that sale discussions could be underway, including the possibility of an off-market transaction. The August 21 report said sources indicated the couple had no current plan to sell. Neither account verified a listing or sale, so the reports establish speculation rather than a confirmed change in ownership.
