What Topuria has said about the divorce
In January 2026, MMA Fighting reported that Topuria said he would not compete in the first quarter of the year because of a personal situation. In a public statement reproduced by the outlet, he said: “The situation began with a divorce petition filed by me, following weeks of negotiations after our separation.” That is Topuria’s account of the petition and separation, not an independently established legal finding.
Topuria also made claims in that statement about financial demands and a later abuse complaint. Those claims should be understood as his allegations; the cited report does not establish them as findings.
Why he asked people to respect his family
In a June 13, 2026 interview with CBS Sports, Topuria said public discussion of his personal relationships was difficult because it affected his children and family. He also said he had defended his former wife against insults. CBS Sports reproduced a June 8 social-media post in which he wrote: “To everyone insulting her or speaking about things they know nothing about: show some respect.”

He described the attention as difficult because, as he put it, “it’s not only about me. It’s about my kids and my family.” His comments offer his perspective on the public scrutiny; they do not verify the claims made by either party in the dispute.
What the September “I’m back” post said
On September 16, 2026, AS reported that Topuria posted “I’m back” after final medical tests. The outlet’s translation of the post began: “Final medical tests done. I’m back.” AS said he was awaiting a date and opponent, and that a return was expected in 2027 at the time of its report.
