I Am Fish is a single-player, physics-based adventure developed by Bossa Studios and published by Curve Games. Released on September 16, 2021, it follows four fish separated from their pet-shop aquarium as they try to reach the open ocean. Creative levels and a distinctive premise
Critic summaries point to the game’s original presentation, varied scenarios, and level design as strengths. PC Invasion’s summary praises the creative presentation while also noting aggravations. Shacknews describes delightful level design but flags strict physics and camera problems. Vandal calls the game original and enjoyable while noting limitations. These are individual outlet assessments, not a guarantee that every player will respond the same way.
Challenging physics and camera friction
The central trade-off is that movement and navigation can be demanding. The Xbox Store listing warns that “the controls are deliberately designed to be challenging.” When precise movement, containers, and hazards combine, a failed attempt may feel less charming than intended; critic summaries specifically identify the camera and strict physics as sources of frustration.

Is I Am Fish worth playing?
It is a better fit if you enjoy unusual premises, inventive environments, and learning a physics-driven control system through attempts and retries. It is a less certain choice if you want consistently smooth controls, minimal camera interference, or an easygoing trip from start to finish. The mixed critic result and more favorable Steam user snapshot capture that split: its creative ideas land for many players, but the execution can be divisive.
- Consider it if: playful level design and a lighthearted adventure matter more to you than frictionless movement.
- Think twice if: strict physics, repeated attempts, or camera issues are likely to spoil your enjoyment.
- Choose by platform and input: the game is listed for PC and Xbox platforms; Steam also tags Xbox controller support. The sources do not establish that a controller is required.
Where can you play I Am Fish?
The Xbox Store listing covers Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Xbox Wire’s 2021 launch announcement says Smart Delivery provides access to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions. The current Canadian Xbox page says cloud play requires an eligible Game Pass plan and a purchase of the game; cloud availability and terms can vary by region, so check the store listing where you live.
