Hyundai’s “Your Dad Is Going Electric” campaign starred Kevin Bacon and his daughter, Sosie Bacon, in ads for the all-electric IONIQ 6. Announced on January 27, 2023, the campaign used a playful father-daughter dynamic to address concerns about switching to an electric car—especially driving range and charging time. It was a 2023 campaign, not a newly announced 2026 launch.
What happens in the Kevin Bacon Hyundai ad?
Kevin Bacon plays a father who has embraced an electric car and eagerly shows its features to other people. His daughter, Sosie, recognizes the contrast with the less tech-savvy version of her dad she knows. The joke turns a familiar family dynamic into Hyundai’s pitch to people who are curious about EVs but unsure about making the switch.
Hyundai Motor America announced 60- and 30-second versions of “Your Dad Is Going Electric.” The company said the spots were scheduled to air during the professional football conference championship games on January 29, 2023, with broadcast and digital placements continuing through March as the vehicle went on sale. Hyundai Motor America’s January 27, 2023 announcement described the campaign as aimed at people considering an EV and said it would address questions about range and charging time.
Which Hyundai does Kevin Bacon drive?
The featured car is the Hyundai IONIQ 6, an all-electric sedan. In its 2023 campaign announcement, Hyundai said the IONIQ 6 SE RWD had a range of up to 361 miles. That is a manufacturer claim for the named trim, not an independent test result or a figure that applies automatically to every IONIQ 6 trim, model year, or driving condition.

What did Hyundai say about charging?
Hyundai’s 2023 release said the IONIQ 6 could charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes when connected to a 350-kW, 800V DC ultra-fast charger. The statement is specific to that charging setup; actual charging time depends on the vehicle, charger, battery and other conditions. It should not be read as a promise that every public charger will deliver that result.
Was this a new Kevin Bacon campaign in 2026?
No. “Your Dad Is Going Electric” was announced in January 2023. Hyundai’s separate May 2024 “Supercharged” campaign promoted a broader EV lineup that included the IONIQ 6; it was not a new Kevin Bacon campaign. The existence of that later campaign does not change the date or premise of the Bacon spots. Hyundai’s IONIQ 6 page is the company’s current model information; specifications and availability can vary by model year and market.

Why did Hyundai use a father-daughter joke?
The campaign makes EV adoption feel less like a technical leap and more like a change an ordinary driver can make. Kevin’s enthusiastic new-owner persona gives Hyundai a way to introduce range and charging, while Sosie’s reactions supply the humor. Hyundai Motor America CMO Angela Zepeda said the company hoped the campaign would show that people at different stages of life could make the switch. That is the campaign’s message, rather than evidence that an EV will suit every driver or household.
