Who performed “Golden” on Fallon?
The performers were EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, the singers associated with the fictional group HUNTR/X. In the film, HUNTR/X consists of the animated characters Rumi, Mira and Zoey. Those characters’ speaking voices are performed by Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo, respectively, according to Netflix’s guide. The Fallon trio were there as singers behind HUNTR/X’s songs, not as the actors voicing the characters.

The appearance put the people behind the fictional group’s songs onstage together for the song’s first full live performance, as described by Sony Pictures Animation. In an interview with TheWrap, EJAE explained how character context informed the writing: “They gave us very detailed guidelines of what the characters are going through during a scene, or what they’re feeling … and that helps a lot with the writing process.” Rei Ami described the vocal work as a demanding process: “It took a lot of time, and thought, and blood, sweat and tears to really build these songs vocally.”
In its one-year retrospective, Netflix reported that “Golden” spent 18 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Those are retrospective chart milestones reported by Netflix, not current chart positions. Netflix also lists HUNTR/X fashion dolls and licensed apparel and footwear in its official franchise guide.
