Short answer: the long-running claim that Hulu is still missing part of the Naruto: Shippuden English dub is outdated for the United States. Official posts from Hulu Support and VIZ state that all 500 dubbed episodes are streaming on Hulu. If your account still lacks English audio, the more likely causes are regional rights, an app or metadata error, an episode-specific playback failure, or confusion between subtitle and audio tracks.
What the original Hulu problem was
Naruto: Shippuden was not an unfinished English dub. The dub existed, but Hulu historically added it in blocks instead of carrying the entire run at once. Viewers often reached a point where the next episodes played in Japanese with subtitles, producing reports that the dub stopped around different episode numbers, including 389, 414, or 461. Those reports document changing catalog conditions, not an official episode inventory.
The underlying production question and the streaming-rights question were separate: an episode could already be dubbed while Hulu was still waiting for rights, delivery, metadata, or technical approval to offer that version.

Did Hulu eventually add the complete dub?
According to official announcements, yes. VIZ and Hulu Support both announced that all 500 English-dubbed episodes were available on Hulu. VIZ’s brand page identifies Naruto: Shippuden as a 500-episode series: VIZ Naruto: Shippuden brand page. The announcements are here: VIZ announcement and Hulu Support announcement.

Those posts place the catalog-level completion by late 2025. Hulu’s public catalog continues to list the series at Hulu’s anime listing. The public page confirms the title’s presence, but it does not publish a complete episode-by-episode audio matrix for every account, device, or territory.
Why did the rollout take so long?
Hulu and VIZ have not published a definitive explanation for the entire delay. The safest explanation is that several distribution steps can be staggered: licensing and sublicensing windows, separate rights for dubbed and subtitled versions, episode-block delivery, metadata processing, quality control, and territory-specific contracts. This is an explanation of how streaming catalogs commonly operate, not a confirmed claim that either company withheld particular episodes for a stated reason. VIZ explicitly warns that availability varies by platform, country, and version at VIZ’s streaming-partner page.

Why you may still see missing English audio

Regional rights are especially important. The complete-dub announcement describes Hulu’s U.S. availability; VIZ’s territory warning means it cannot be generalized to Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, or other markets. Do not assume that a Disney+ bundle or another service presents identical tracks.
How to verify your account before reporting a missing dub
- Confirm that you are using a U.S. Hulu account and connection.
- Search for Naruto: Shippuden directly instead of opening an old saved or “Continue Watching” entry.
- Open episodes from the beginning, middle, and final arc, and check the player’s audio and subtitle controls. Their labels and placement vary by device.
- Test the same episode in a current web browser and on another supported device.
- Compare the allegedly missing episode with the preceding and following episodes, using both episode number and arc because season numbering differs between services.
- Sign out and back in, update the Hulu app, and clear its cache where your device provides that option. These are diagnostic steps, not a way to create a track that your region is not licensed to receive.
- If only one or a few episodes fail, contact Hulu with the exact episode number, device, app version, region, and error message. If the entire English option is absent, verify region and catalog before concluding that Hulu removed the dub.
What to use if Hulu still does not work
U.S. Hulu streaming
For viewers in the United States, Hulu is the service identified by the official announcements for the complete English dub. Hulu’s anime pages have advertised access from $11.99 per month; pricing and plan eligibility can change, so check Hulu’s current anime hub and Hulu’s plan page. A higher-priced plan should not be assumed to unlock additional Naruto language tracks.

VIZ Blu-ray sets
Physical releases avoid streaming catalog changes and app failures, but require buying multiple sets and compatible hardware. VIZ’s listing for Naruto: Shippuden, Set 10 specifies 28 episodes, English and Japanese audio, English subtitles, a $49.99 list price signal, and a May 19, 2026 release date: VIZ Set 10 listing. Retail prices may differ, and one set is not the complete 500-episode collection.
Digital purchases
VIZ directs viewers to digital retailers through its Naruto franchise page and streaming page. Check the exact country, episode, audio, and subtitle details before paying; a digital listing does not automatically include every version.

Viewers outside the United States
Check current listings from VIZ-authorized services in your country. Do not subscribe to Hulu unless it is officially offered in your market. Crunchyroll and other partners may carry a version in some territories, but VIZ’s availability caveat is more reliable than conflicting fan reports and does not guarantee a U.S. English-dub replacement.

The historical Hulu rollout was slow and understandably created years of frustration. However, the available official evidence does not support saying that Hulu still lacks the complete U.S. English dub. In 2026, a missing track or failed episode is more likely to be a regional, account, device, metadata, or asset-delivery problem that should be tested and reported specifically.
