Hulu on Disney+ launched in the United States on March 27, 2024, after a December 2023 beta. The Android and Google TV “rollout” referred largely to refreshed Disney+ branding and icon changes; the integrated Hulu viewing experience was already the service launch. Eligible subscribers can watch most Hulu on-demand content in Disney+, but a standalone Disney+ subscription does not include Hulu, and Hulu Live TV-only programming and add-ons still require the Hulu app or website.
What actually launched
Disney began testing Hulu inside Disney+ on December 6, 2023, then announced the full U.S. launch on March 27, 2024. The experience places eligible Hulu titles in Disney+ recommendations, collections and a dedicated Hulu hub, reducing the need to switch apps for on-demand viewing. Disney described the launch for Disney Bundle customers and people with qualifying standalone subscriptions. The beta announcement and the launch announcement document those dates and scope.
Contemporaneous reporting from 9to5Google focused on the refreshed Disney+ logo appearing on Android and Google TV. App branding can arrive separately from account entitlements and catalog changes, so seeing a new icon does not prove that an account qualifies for Hulu.
Is Hulu included with Disney+?
No. You need an eligible Hulu entitlement or a bundle that includes Hulu. Disney+ alone does not unlock the Hulu catalog. A separate Hulu subscription can qualify when it is associated with the expected MyDisney login, but Hulu remains a separate subscription entitlement even when its programs appear in Disney+.

Disney’s current eligibility guidance is in the Hulu on Disney+ Help Center article. The original launch was U.S.-specific; availability, rights and supported plans can differ elsewhere.
What Hulu content is available?
Disney says most titles from the Hulu streaming library are available through Disney+ for eligible users. That does not mean every Hulu title or every Hulu feature is transferred. Availability can vary by plan, territory, licensing rights and device. Disney’s plan information describes the Disney+ integration as carrying select Hulu content while directing subscribers to Hulu for additional content; see Disney’s plans and prices.

Content that still requires Hulu
- Hulu Live TV-only programming and live channels.
- Hulu add-on content.
- Titles that are not included in the Disney+ Hulu hub for your plan or region.
- Hulu-specific account, billing or playback functions that Disney+ does not expose.
Hulu + Live TV subscribers should keep the Hulu app available even when the Disney+ hub works normally.

- Update or install Disney+ from Google Play.
- Sign in with the MyDisney email address associated with the eligible Hulu subscription.
- Open the Disney+ home screen.
- Choose Hulu in the top navigation, or open a Hulu title from recommendations and collections.
Disney lists Android 6.0 or later for supported phones and tablets. Compatibility can still depend on the device model and current app support; check Disney’s Android mobile requirements.

How to watch on Android TV or Google TV
- Open the Google Play Store on the television or streaming device.
- Search for Disney+, then install or update the app.
- Sign in to the eligible MyDisney account.
- Look for the Hulu icon or Hulu recommendations in Disney+.
Disney’s Android TV guidance covers Android TV devices running Android 6.0 or later, subject to model support. Its examples include selected Dynalink, Hisense, onn., Philips, Sharp, Sony Bravia, TCL, NVIDIA SHIELD TV, Whale TV and Xiaomi Mi Box devices. Android phones, tablets, Android TV and Google TV are separate compatibility categories; a device merely described as “Android” is not automatically supported. See Disney’s Android TV support page.
Why the logo and feature may appear at different times
Disney can distribute a new icon or name through an app update while entitlement checks and catalog access change independently. The early Android and Google TV rollout was also confusing because reporting noted the refreshed branding on app variants such as Disney+ Hotstar, although Hulu integration at launch was U.S.-only. The icon is therefore a branding signal, not proof of Hulu eligibility.

Do you need both apps?
Use Disney+ as the single app when you mainly watch Hulu on-demand shows and films and your account qualifies. Keep Hulu installed if you use Live TV, add-ons, a title missing from the Disney+ hub, or Hulu-specific account features. The two-app setup is also a practical fallback when billing or profile linking is not recognized correctly.
Profile linking changes documented in 2026
Disney later added a flow for linking existing Hulu profiles to Disney+. It is not universal: Disney lists exceptions for Hulu + Live TV plans, Disney+, Hulu, Max Bundle plans, Hulu add-ons, Hulu child profiles and profiles for users under 18. Downloads and TV limitations
Eligible Disney+ Premium or Hulu Premium subscribers can download select Hulu content through Disney+. Disney limits Hulu downloads in Disney+ to 25 downloads across five supported mobile devices. Downloads are not supported on TV-connected devices, so Android TV and Google TV users need a supported mobile device for offline viewing. See Disney’s download rules.
If the Hulu hub does not appear
- Confirm that you are in the United States for the original Hulu-on-Disney+ service and that your plan includes eligible Hulu access.
- Check that Disney+ and Hulu use the expected MyDisney email address.
- Update Disney+; on Android TV or Google TV, check for updates in Google Play.
- Sign out and back in, then restart the phone, television or streaming device.
- If a carrier, app store or other third party bills you, verify that the bundle entitlement has been activated and linked.
- Use Hulu directly for Live TV, add-ons or content absent from Disney+.

Disney’s pricing page listed these monthly rates on April 30, 2026. Prices can change, and billing through a partner may differ.

What the rollout means now
As of August 18, 2026, Disney+ is a convenient front end for most Hulu on-demand content for eligible U.S. subscribers, including supported Android phones, tablets, Android TV and Google TV devices. It is not a replacement for Hulu in every case: Live TV-only programming, add-ons, some profiles and some account functions remain tied to Hulu. Check your plan, sign-in relationship and device support before assuming that a new Disney+ icon changes what you can watch.
