If Hulu freezes, shows a black screen, or spins endlessly after an ad when you try to watch Attack on Titan, the problem is more likely a playback handoff, blocker, app, or network issue than a damaged episode. First confirm you have the right episode, then test whether the failure follows the title, device, or network.
Confirm you have the right episode
Season 4 Part 2 Episode 3 is “Two Brothers,” also identified as Episode 78, or E78. Services may organize The Final Season differently, so look for the episode title as well as its season and episode number. The Crunchyroll episode listing identifies “Two Brothers” as E78; the official Attack on Titan portal gives the Part 2 release period as January through April 2022.
Open the Attack on Titan show page in Hulu, choose the season and episode manually, and start “Two Brothers” from its listing. A stale Continue Watching tile or saved resume point can send playback to the wrong place.

Try these fixes first
- Reopen the episode from its listing. Back out to the show page, select “Two Brothers,” and start it again.
- Test another title or episode. Try another Attack on Titan episode and a different Hulu title that has ads. This helps show whether the failure is limited to one episode or affects Hulu playback more broadly.
- Temporarily disable blockers and privacy tools. Turn off ad-blocking, tracker-blocking, or script-blocking extensions for Hulu. Also test without VPN or proxy routing and, if you use network-wide filtering such as Pi-hole, NextDNS, or AdGuard DNS, temporarily bypass it. Hulu has guidance for allowing Hulu ads with AdBlock and Adblock Plus; do not permanently change network settings unless testing shows filtering is involved.
- Restart Hulu and the device. Force-close the app or browser, reopen it, then restart the streaming device if needed.
- Update Hulu and the device software. Install available app and operating-system updates. Compatibility varies by device; check Hulu’s supported-device reference.
- Clear cache or app data where available. On a browser, clear Hulu site data/cache; Hulu provides browser cache instructions. On a TV or mobile device, menu names and cache options vary. Sign out and back in, or reinstall Hulu if clearing data is unavailable or does not help.
Match the symptom to the next test

Find out whether the issue follows the episode, device, or network
Run a few comparisons and note what changes. Do not infer a Hulu-wide outage from one failed playback attempt.

- Only “Two Brothers” fails on multiple devices: A title-specific listing, stream, DRM, or availability issue is possible. Contact Hulu with the episode identity.
- Multiple titles freeze after ads: Check ad blockers, DNS filtering, VPN/proxy use, and the network; a temporary Hulu-side problem is also possible. Hulu’s buffering and playback guidance covers related symptoms.
- Only one device fails: Focus on that device’s Hulu app, cache/data, firmware, or compatibility. An aging or unsupported TV app can fail even when playback works elsewhere; see Hulu’s unsupported-device guidance.
- The browser works but the app does not, or vice versa: The difference points toward the failing app, its stored data, browser extensions, or browser settings. In a browser, test a private window, then disable extensions one at a time, starting with blockers.
- A mobile hotspot works but home Wi-Fi does not: The home router, custom DNS, filtering, or ISP route may be involved. Reboot the modem/router and retry without custom filtering before making permanent changes.
For a browser check, close other Hulu tabs, open a private/incognito window, sign in, and try the episode. If it works there, disable extensions one by one and clear Hulu site data. Browser requirements and available settings can change; use a current browser supported by Hulu rather than relying on an unverified minimum version.
Check Hulu availability, account, and language
Hulu’s public pages currently list Attack on Titan, including in its anime collection and Crunchyroll collection. Those listings do not guarantee that every season, episode, dub, subtitle track, or version is available to every account, location, or device. Search the show directly in Hulu and check the episode list instead of assuming it has been removed because a saved tile fails.

Confirm that you are signed into the intended account, the subscription is active, and you are viewing from a supported location. If you access Hulu through Disney+, search there separately: Disney says only select Hulu content is available through Disney+, with some Hulu add-on and Live TV content remaining Hulu-only.

It is a diagnostic, not a guaranteed fix. An ad-free plan is not a sure solution either: Hulu notes that rights restrictions can still mean short ads before or after some shows on its programming information page.

When to contact Hulu
If the episode still fails after the comparisons above, use Hulu’s streaming-issues contact path or the Hulu Help Center. Give support details that make it possible to distinguish a title problem from a device or network problem:
- Title and episode: Attack on Titan, Season 4 Part 2 Episode 3 / Episode 78, “Two Brothers.”
- Device model, Hulu app or browser, and software version if readily available.
- What happens immediately after the ad and any exact error code.
- Whether other episodes or titles play, and whether another device or browser works.
- Whether you tested without a VPN, ad blocker, proxy, or custom DNS, and whether a hotspot changed the result.
- A screenshot of the error or frozen screen, if one appears.
Older viewer posts describe similar post-ad freezes, including reports on r/attackontitan and r/Hulu. They show that the symptom has occurred before, but do not establish a current outage or confirm that Hulu has a platform-wide bug.

Consider another eligible way to watch
If you already have an eligible Disney+ bundle, you can search there to see whether this episode is among the select Hulu titles available through Disney+. Alternatively, check the Crunchyroll episode page for availability in your region and plan. Catalogs, language options, and access rules differ, so neither route guarantees the same version or availability as Hulu. If your aim is only to fix Hulu, test another device before considering new hardware or a separate subscription.
