Hugh Grant has five children with two partners: two with Tinglan Hong and three with his wife, Anna Elisabet Eberstein. Their publicly reported names are Tabitha Xiao Xi, Felix Chang Hong, John Mungo, Lulu Danger and Blue.
Because the children are private individuals—and several are still minors—reliable public information about them is limited. The most defensible account focuses on their names, mothers, broadly reported birth timing and the few family details Grant himself has discussed.
Hugh Grant’s five children at a glance
| Child | Mother | Publicly reported birth timing |
|---|---|---|
| Tabitha Xiao Xi Grant | Tinglan Hong | September 2011 |
| Felix Chang Hong Grant | Tinglan Hong | Late 2012 or early 2013 |
| John Mungo Grant | Anna Elisabet Eberstein | Reported as 2012 or 2013; some detailed chronologies say September 2012 |
| Lulu Danger Grant | Anna Elisabet Eberstein | December 2015 |
| Blue Grant | Anna Elisabet Eberstein | March 2018 |
The dates above are approximate public reporting rather than independently verified birth records. In particular, published accounts disagree about when Felix and John were born, so precise ages and birth dates should not be treated as settled facts.
#1 Best Overall
1. Tabitha Xiao Xi Grant
Tabitha is Hugh Grant’s first publicly reported child and was born to Tinglan Hong in September 2011. Grant discussed her name in a 2012 interview: he chose the English name Tabitha, while Hong chose the Chinese name Xiao Xi. The Guardian reported Grant’s explanation that Xiao Xi means “happy surprise.”
Tabitha’s birth received intense media attention, and the episode became part of wider disputes about paparazzi intrusion and press treatment of Hong and her child. That history is one reason responsible coverage should avoid details about Tabitha’s school, home, appearance, travel or everyday life.
2. Felix Chang Hong Grant
Felix is Grant’s second publicly reported child with Tinglan Hong. Reports place his birth in late 2012 or early 2013. Some outlets have reported December 2012, while others have given February 2013; there is no authoritative public birth record in the available reporting that resolves the discrepancy.
Grant publicly announced the birth of a son and was reported as referring to having a daughter and a son with a “fab mum.” Secondary reports identify the child as Felix Chang Hong. The safe conclusion is that Felix was born around 2012–2013, not that one precise month has been conclusively established.

John is Grant’s first publicly reported child with Anna Elisabet Eberstein. Detailed secondary family chronologies place his birth in September 2012, although other reports describe him as having been born in 2013.
His name is notable because Mungo also appears in Hugh Grant’s full name, Hugh John Mungo Grant. Public reporting places John’s birth only a few months from Felix’s, a timing that attracted considerable media attention. It is better to state that the boys were born close together than to speculate about the circumstances or chronology of Grant’s relationships.
4. Lulu Danger Grant
Lulu, born in December 2015, is Grant’s second publicly reported child with Eberstein. Grant explained the unusual middle name, Danger, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October 2024.
He said that he and Eberstein were in “a bit of a panic” while choosing a name and decided that Danger might amuse Lulu when she was older. Grant also mentioned that Lulu and her younger sister Blue had dressed as the twin girls from The Shining for Halloween. That anecdote comes from Grant’s own interview, but it does not justify broader conclusions about the children’s personalities or private interests.

Blue is Grant’s youngest publicly reported child and was born to Eberstein in March 2018. Public sources generally identify her simply as Blue; no reliable public source in the available research establishes a middle name.
Grant said that the family asked older brother John to suggest a name while the baby was on the way. John first proposed “Kevin,” after a favorite Minion, and then suggested “Blue” because blue was his favorite color. Grant repeated that story during the same 2024 Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance in which he discussed Lulu’s middle name.
Who are the mothers of Hugh Grant’s children?
Grant has two children with Tinglan Hong—Tabitha and Felix—and three with Anna Elisabet Eberstein—John, Lulu and Blue. Grant and Eberstein married in 2018.
The early-2010s reporting around Hong, Grant and the births of Felix and John involved paparazzi intrusion, court proceedings and concerns about harassment. A court order reported by The Guardian barred a picture agency from pursuing or harassing Hong or her child, while a witness statement from Grant described concerns about press intrusion around the birth of his daughter. Those events are relevant context, but they do not support repeating unverified claims about the family’s private circumstances.

What Hugh Grant has said about fatherhood
Grant has described himself as a later-in-life father. During a 2024 appearance on the SmartLess podcast, he joked that he had “started” having children at 52 and said he had become a father later than ideal. The Independent has likewise described him as having three children with Eberstein and two with Hong.
In a 2012 Guardian interview, shortly after Tabitha’s birth, Grant said he was excited about becoming a father and felt like a better person, while also acknowledging that fatherhood had not instantly changed every part of his life. He discussed choosing Tabitha’s English name and receiving a Chinese-language book.
A later interview summarized by Biography.com described Grant as surprised by how enchanting he found fatherhood. That comment offers a glimpse of his perspective, but it should not be treated as a complete account of his parenting or family life.

As of August 12, 2026, the public birth-year reporting suggests that Tabitha is approximately 14 or 15, Felix approximately 13 or 14, John approximately 13 or 14, Lulu about 10 and Blue about 8. These are estimates, not verified exact ages, because the public sources disagree about Felix’s and John’s birth timing and do not consistently provide full birthdays.

For the same reason, a list that presents exact ages as settled facts can be misleading. Birth years and approximate ranges are more accurate than birthday-style countdowns.
