Donald Trump’s 2024 Republican National Convention speech already took place on Thursday, July 18, 2024. He delivered it in Milwaukee after formally accepting the Republican presidential nomination. The address was expected to begin at approximately 9:00 p.m. Central Time—10:00 p.m. Eastern—although the convention program and preceding speakers could change the exact start time.
If you are looking for it now, use an archived full-speech video or replay rather than searching for a live 2024 stream. PBS NewsHour, NPR, C-SPAN, the RNC’s convention channels, and major television networks provided free or widely available online and television coverage during the event.
When was Trump’s 2024 RNC speech?
The 2024 Republican National Convention ran from Monday, July 15, through Thursday, July 18, 2024, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Trump spoke on the convention’s final night, Thursday, July 18, when he accepted the Republican presidential nomination.
The expected start time was:
- 9:00 p.m. Central Time
- 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time
- 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time
- 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time
That was the anticipated start of Trump’s address, not the beginning of the entire convention broadcast. Earlier speeches, program changes, and the convention’s floor schedule could delay his appearance. The speech continued into the early hours of Friday, July 19, in Eastern Time, which is why some archived pages may show a July 19 publication or update date even though the event began on the evening of July 18 in Milwaukee.

How to watch the speech now: free replay options
The live event has ended, but several reputable outlets published recorded coverage. Look for a full-speech video, archived convention coverage, or replay rather than a page promising a live 2024 broadcast.
PBS NewsHour
PBS NewsHour offered free online coverage of the convention and later published a video page titled “WATCH: Donald Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention.” That post-event video is one of the clearest destinations for viewers who want the address after the convention.
During the event, PBS announced gavel-to-gavel coverage. Its July 18 schedule included a direct convention-floor feed beginning at approximately 6:45 p.m. Eastern, followed by the main PBS News special at approximately 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Local PBS member-station schedules could vary.
The RNC and GOP Convention channels
The Republican National Convention planned to stream the proceedings online through platforms including YouTube and X. Contemporary coverage identified the RNC’s YouTube channel, @GOPConvention, as an official source for convention proceedings.
Recommended Free Tools
Because the 2024 convention is over, the relevant material is now an archive or replay. Availability and the way older videos are organized can change, so search the channel for Trump’s July 18 acceptance speech or the final night of the 2024 Republican National Convention.
NPR
NPR and participating public-radio stations offered online convention coverage, including live video through NPR.org and the NPR YouTube channel. NPR’s Thursday-night video coverage was scheduled to begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. Eastern.

- A high-quality, boldly-colored, and engaging poster
NPR’s presentation was useful for viewers who wanted live video alongside reporting and analysis. Its stream should not be assumed to be identical to the official convention-floor feed or to a television network’s broadcast.
C-SPAN
C-SPAN was a strong choice for extended convention coverage. Its YouTube archive included day-by-day proceedings and was better suited to viewers seeking longer, less-condensed coverage than a network’s prime-time presentation.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For a replay, search C-SPAN’s convention videos for the Republican National Convention’s fourth night or Trump’s July 18 speech. C-SPAN, PBS, NPR, and the RNC could differ in camera feeds, commentary, interruptions, and whether they showed the convention floor continuously.
Which TV channels carried the 2024 RNC?
Contemporary listings identified these outlets as carrying convention programming or live coverage:
- ABC
- CBS
- NBC
- Fox News
- CNN
- MSNBC
- PBS
- NewsNation
- C-SPAN
The outlets did not use one universal schedule. Some began with extended convention coverage, while others focused on evening specials, analysis, or selected portions of the program.
Fox News
Fox News Media announced a nightly RNC special, FOX News Democracy 2024, from Monday through Thursday at 10:00 p.m. Eastern. That was the scheduled time for the network’s special—not a guarantee that Trump’s speech would begin at exactly that moment.

ABC News
ABC News announced special convention coverage for July 15 through July 18. ABC’s program archive also identified a final-night listing associated with Trump’s appearance, with the archive dated July 19.
PBS member stations
PBS member stations carried PBS News special coverage, with cited schedules placing the fourth-night programming at around 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Local public-television airtimes could differ, so station schedules were more reliable than assuming every PBS affiliate used the same start time.
CNN and authenticated streaming
CNN was among the outlets covering the convention, but online access was not necessarily free in every format. CNN described some livestream access as requiring a cable-provider login, even though CNN programming was also available through television and other platforms. Do not assume that a network’s online video stream was free simply because the network carried the event on television.
What was free, and what required a subscription?
Several online paths were available without a conventional cable subscription, including:
- Official RNC or GOP Convention online coverage
- PBS NewsHour’s website and YouTube coverage
- NPR’s website and YouTube coverage
- C-SPAN’s online and YouTube convention videos
“Free streaming” still meant having an internet connection and a compatible browser, app, or device. It also did not mean that every feed was uninterrupted, commercial-free, or available in exactly the same form. Some cable-network apps and livestreams could require television-provider authentication.
Which viewing option was best?
| What you wanted | Best historical option | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| The speech itself after the event | PBS NewsHour’s post-event video or another reputable broadcaster’s full-speech archive | It is a replay, not a live broadcast. |
| Official convention proceedings | RNC/GOP Convention archive | Older videos may be reorganized or removed from a live-event page. |
| Extended, floor-focused coverage | C-SPAN | The presentation may include long portions of the convention beyond Trump’s speech. |
| News reporting and analysis | PBS NewsHour, NPR, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, or NewsNation archives | Commentary, interruptions, and access rules differed by outlet. |
| Local public television | A PBS member station | Local schedules and replay availability varied. |
How to avoid the most common viewing-guide mistakes
- Do not treat July 18, 2024, as an upcoming event. The convention and speech are historical.
- Do not confuse the convention broadcast with the speech’s start time. A channel could begin coverage hours earlier.
- Check the time zone. The expected start was 9:00 p.m. Central and 10:00 p.m. Eastern.
- Look for a replay label. Archived pages may be dated July 19 because the address continued past midnight Eastern Time.
- Do not assume every stream was identical. Official, public-media, cable, and network feeds differed in commentary and continuity.
- Do not assume a television app was free. Some online network streams required a cable login.
Can you watch the archived speech on a TV?
Yes. A replay on YouTube, PBS, NPR, or another broadcaster can generally be viewed through a smart-TV app, a computer connected to a television, or another compatible streaming setup. No special equipment was required to access the original online coverage. A streaming device may be convenient for moving an archived video from a phone or computer to a television, but it does not unlock a restricted feed or restore the former live broadcast.

Likewise, an antenna was not needed for the online replay. For future live political events, an indoor antenna may receive local broadcast affiliates in some homes, but reception depends on location, building construction, antenna placement, and the local station lineup. It is not a way to watch the archived 2024 convention itself.
Bottom line
Trump’s 2024 RNC speech took place on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at an expected start of approximately 10:00 p.m. Eastern / 9:00 p.m. Central. The live window is over. For viewing today, use a reputable archived full-speech video from PBS NewsHour, C-SPAN, the RNC/GOP Convention channels, NPR, or a network archive. Treat July 19 timestamps as a consequence of the speech continuing past midnight Eastern Time, not as evidence of a different convention date.
