For the simplest choice, open a fireplace video in a streaming app you already use. Netflix currently lists Fireplace for Your Home; Tubi and YouTube are free places to look, while PBS has carried a classical-music Yule Log and Disney+ has listed a Jonas Brothers-themed special. Those seasonal catalogs can change, so check the listing in your region before Christmas. For the traditional WPIX/PIX11 broadcast, check local schedules closer to December 24–25, 2026; its 2026 airing has not been confirmed here.

A Yule Log can mean a simple loop of burning wood, a scheduled television segment, a music-backed ambience video, or a themed entertainment special. Search results may also include conventional films or comedy and horror productions with “Yule Log” in the title. Check the thumbnail, description, rating, runtime, and opening minutes to make sure you have the quiet fireplace you intended.

The original WPIX Yule Log
New York station WPIX first aired its Yule Log on Christmas Eve in 1966. The idea offered viewers without fireplaces a virtual hearth; the original footage showed a fire at Gracie Mansion. The broadcast became a model for the fireplace videos that followed. Netflix’s history of the Yule Log recounts its origins and later versions.

That history does not mean the broadcast is available everywhere, or that it is scheduled for Christmas 2026. Check PIX11’s official holiday listings and your local TV guide nearer December 24–25. If you are outside the New York market, search your own station and cable or satellite guide for “Yule Log,” “fireplace,” or “holiday fireplace.” Use the provider’s current guide rather than an old schedule copied from a previous year.

Netflix: polished, on-demand fireplace episodes
Netflix currently lists Fireplace for Your Home, a collection of three roughly 60-minute episodes. Its Christmas-themed option includes holiday music; other episodes offer different fireplace presentations. Search Netflix for Fireplace for Your Home and choose Crackling Yule Log Fireplace or another listed episode. The Netflix title page and its editorial guide describe the available collection.
Use a repeat, autoplay, or playlist feature if you want playback beyond an episode’s runtime, but behavior depends on the device and current app settings. Netflix’s catalog and plan features can change by country and over time. If you already subscribe, it is a convenient option; subscribing solely for a one-night fireplace video is harder to justify when free alternatives may meet the need.
Disney+: a Jonas Brothers-themed log
Disney+ has listed A Very Jonas Christmas Movie Yule Log, a one-hour fireplace special with the Jonas Brothers’ Christmas soundtrack playing in another room. Search Disney+ for the full title and confirm it is available in your territory. The Disney+ listing identifies the special; Disney’s 2025 holiday announcement described its availability that season. Its 2026 status should be checked rather than assumed. This is a branded soundtrack experience, not a substitute for the original WPIX broadcast.

PBS: a classical-music option
WQED’s Holiday Yule Log with WQED Classical Music was available through PBS.org and the PBS app during the 2025 holiday season. Its listed runtime was 1 hour, 59 minutes, and it pairs a fireplace with classical holiday music. Visit PBS.org or open the PBS app and search for Holiday Yule Log or WQED Classical Music. Check the program’s date and listing before settling in: the PBS program page documents the 2025 edition, not a guarantee of a 2026 return.
Tubi: free, ad-supported ambience
Tubi lists Christmas Yule Log Fireplace as an ambient series with multiple episodes, including an approximately one-hour fireplace program. Open Tubi and search for the series, then choose an episode for the look or length you want. Expect possible advertising interruptions, and confirm that the listing is available where you live. The Tubi series page shows its current listing; seasonal availability can change.
YouTube: the most variety, with more checking
YouTube is useful if you want a specific fireplace style, soundtrack, long video, or livestream. Try searches such as Christmas fireplace 4K, fireplace with Christmas music, no music Christmas fireplace, or traditional WPIX yule log. Do not assume that a result is an official WPIX upload just because its title says so.

- Check who uploaded it and whether the channel looks like the rights holder or a reputable publisher.
- Confirm the runtime and whether it is a finite video or a livestream.
- Preview the opening minutes for a loud intro, voiceover, or an unexpected change in sound.
- Read recent comments for reports of interruptions or misleading titles, but treat comments as clues, not guarantees.
- Remember that user-uploaded music can be muted, blocked, or replaced if rights change. Ads and playback behavior also vary.
A 4K label does not guarantee 4K playback: the source, device, network, and service all matter. YouTube may be free to watch, but that does not make every video uninterrupted, licensed, or available indefinitely.
Can you watch it on regular television?
There are three routes: a local broadcast such as a PIX11/WPIX holiday airing, a fireplace program carried by a cable or satellite provider, or a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel. Seasonal channels may appear through services such as Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus, or the Roku Channel, but names and availability can change. Search your current guide or app for “Yule Log,” “fireplace,” and “holiday fireplace.” Verify the result in the official provider app and check its schedule or runtime; a channel that carried a fireplace program in a past season may not carry it this year.

- Try the TV app first. Open Netflix, Disney+, PBS, Tubi, or YouTube on the television and search for the exact title. This avoids relying on a phone screen or keeping a computer open.
- Cast from a phone or tablet. Start playback in the service app and use its cast button when available. AirPlay is another option on supported Apple devices and televisions.
- Connect a laptop by HDMI. Open the video in a browser, connect the computer to the TV, and select the matching HDMI input. This is a straightforward fallback if the TV lacks the app.
- Use an existing streaming stick or game console. Install the service app if the device supports it; there is usually no need to buy a new television just to play a fireplace video.
The video should fill the TV as far as its aspect ratio allows, with sound from the TV or connected audio system. If something goes wrong:

- Black bars: The source’s shape may not match the TV screen. Check the TV’s picture-size setting, but avoid stretching that distorts the image.
- Blurry picture: Choose 1080p or 4K in the player if offered. Resolution is limited by the source and the device, not just by the television.
- Buffering: Lower the resolution, move closer to the router, or use a wired connection if available.
- No sound: Check the player’s mute setting, TV volume, soundbar input, and any Bluetooth connection. Some fireplace videos intentionally have little or no audio.
- Phone locks or playback stops: Casting is generally more practical than mirroring for a long session. If you must mirror, temporarily adjust the phone’s auto-lock setting and keep it powered.
- Autoplay ends: Choose a longer episode, playlist, livestream, or scheduled channel. A short clip may not loop automatically.
Pick the right kind of fireplace
Natural crackle suits conversation, reading, or a quieter room. Christmas songs create more overt holiday atmosphere, but may compete with dinner or conversation. Classical music can be a gentler middle ground; a film- or celebrity-themed soundtrack is best when the household enjoys that tie-in.
Runtime matters as much as the picture. Short clips can repeat visibly. Standard episodes are often around an hour; the cited PBS program ran almost two hours; traditional broadcasts may run for several hours. Livestreams and scheduled channels can play longer, but may end, buffer, insert ads, or disappear. For an event, start the video early enough to confirm the picture and sound—and have a backup title ready.

Free viewing usually means accepting some combination of ads, changing catalogs, or less predictable uploads. For a quiet, uninterrupted evening, first try a service you already pay for and check its current title listing. A subscription is rarely worthwhile solely for a Yule Log.
Before Christmas Eve
- Confirm the title is still listed and available in your region; 2025 seasonal listings do not guarantee a 2026 return.
- Check whether the option is on-demand, scheduled, or live, and whether ads are likely.
- Test the TV app, casting, picture, volume, and soundbar input before guests arrive.
- Pick a video long enough for the occasion and decide whether you want music or fire sounds.
- Set a TV sleep timer or lower brightness if the screen will be on for hours. Power use varies by television and settings, so there is no single reliable savings figure.
A virtual fire is visual ambience, not a real heater or fireplace. Keep candles, heaters, and decorations away from the television, and do not block its ventilation openings.
