Short answer: Four of the five Crow movies currently have a legal free-streaming route in the U.S., although access works differently from film to film. The Crow (1994) is listed through library services Kanopy and Hoopla; City of Angels (1996) and Wicked Prayer (2005) are listed through Hoopla; and Salvation (2000) is available with ads on several free services. The Crow (2024) is the exception: it is currently listed through the Starz Apple TV Channel and as a digital rental or purchase, with no free streaming option listed at the time checked.
This is a U.S.-only availability guide for the five films in The Crow franchise. Streaming rights, library catalogs, ad-supported lineups, and subscription-channel availability can change by date, location, account type, and participating library. Check the service’s listing before starting playback.

Which Crow movies are free right now?
| Film | Free legal option currently listed | Subscription or paid options currently listed | Important note |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Crow (1994) Alex Proyas; Brandon Lee |
Kanopy and Hoopla, when supplied by a participating library or academic institution | Rent or buy through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, or Fandango at Home | This is a library-based free option, not a guarantee that every library card provides access. |
| The Crow: City of Angels (1996) Tim Pope; Vincent Perez |
Hoopla, where the reader’s participating library offers it | Rent or buy through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, or Fandango at Home | Hoopla availability depends on the library’s catalog and eligibility rules. |
| The Crow: Salvation (2000) Bharat Nalluri; Eric Mabius |
Free with ads on The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, The CW, Fandango at Home Free, YouTube Free, Tubi, Free Movies Plus, Shout! Factory TV, and other supported services | Also listed through Amazon Prime Video and related channels; rent or buy through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, or Fandango at Home | “Free” here means an ad-supported catalog listing. A subscription or channel may still be offered as a separate route. |
| The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005) Lance Mungia; Edward Furlong |
Hoopla, where available through a participating library | Rent or buy through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, or Fandango at Home; a DVD option is also listed | The free route is library-based, while the physical and digital options are purchases or rentals. |
| The Crow (2024) Rupert Sanders; Bill Skarsgård |
No free streaming option currently listed | Starz Apple TV Channel; rent or buy through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, or Fandango at Home | The Starz Apple TV Channel is a subscription-channel route, not the same thing as a free listing or a one-time Apple TV Store rental. |
How to watch The Crow movies in order
For a first viewing, use release order:
- The Crow (1994) — Alex Proyas’s original film, starring Brandon Lee as Eric Draven.
- The Crow: City of Angels (1996) — Tim Pope’s sequel, starring Vincent Perez.
- The Crow: Salvation (2000) — Bharat Nalluri’s entry, starring Eric Mabius.
- The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005) — Lance Mungia’s fourth pre-reboot film, starring Edward Furlong.
- The Crow (2024) — Rupert Sanders’s new adaptation, starring Bill Skarsgård.
The older films are connected by the franchise’s central supernatural-avenger concept, but they do not follow one protagonist through a conventional continuous story. The resurrected avenger changes from film to film. Watching the 1994 original is the best way to understand the character and visual identity that made the series notable; watching the remaining older films in release order then provides historical context rather than a single tightly serialized narrative.
#1 Best Overall
The 2024 film should be treated as a reboot or new adaptation, not as the next chapter of Brandon Lee’s Eric Draven story. It is a separate version centered on Eric and Shelly. You can watch it after the older movies for comparison, but you do not need to watch all four earlier films to understand it.
How to watch The Crow (1994) for free
The easiest legal free options for the 1994 original are usually Kanopy and Hoopla, provided your library participates. Both are library-supported services, so availability is determined by the catalog and eligibility rules of the public or academic library connected to your account.
Try Kanopy or Hoopla first
- Open the official Kanopy or Hoopla website or app.
- Search for The Crow from 1994, taking care not to select the identically titled 2024 film.
- Check whether your public library, university, or other eligible institution is supported.
- If the title appears in your institution’s catalog, follow that service’s borrowing or viewing instructions.
A library card by itself is not a universal pass to either service. Some library systems do not participate, some institutions support only one of the services, and local catalogs can change independently of national streaming listings. If neither service is available through your library, the legal fallback is a digital rental or purchase.
If your library cannot supply the film, you can rent The Crow online through a listed digital retailer such as Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, or Fandango at Home. A rental is a paid, time-limited viewing option; it should not be described as free streaming.

Streaming catalogs rotate, while a disc gives you a more stable way to revisit the 1994 film. Look for The Crow 4K Blu-ray, the 4K UHD edition of the original released in the U.S. by Paramount Home Entertainment in 2024. This is a purchase of The Crow (1994), not a box set containing every film and not a physical edition of the 2024 reboot.
How to watch the older sequels for free
The Crow: City of Angels (1996)
City of Angels is currently listed as free through Hoopla in the U.S. As with the 1994 film, that means access depends on a participating library or academic institution. Search the exact title in the official Hoopla catalog after selecting or verifying your library.
If your institution does not offer the sequel, current listings also show Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango at Home as rental or purchase destinations. Those are paid alternatives and may have different prices, formats, and account requirements.
The Crow: Salvation (2000)
Salvation has the broadest current free-streaming footprint in the series. It is listed with ads on The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, The CW, Fandango at Home Free, YouTube Free, Tubi, Free Movies Plus, Shout! Factory TV, and other supported services.

Because free catalogs can differ by device and location, search the title within the official app or website rather than relying on an old search-engine result. The same film is also listed through Amazon Prime Video and related channels, but readers should check whether the route requires a Prime membership, an add-on channel, or a separate transaction. A Prime Video listing is not automatically proof that the movie is included at no extra cost.
The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005)
Wicked Prayer is currently listed as free through Hoopla for eligible users whose participating library offers the title. If that route is unavailable, the film is listed for rental or purchase through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango at Home. A DVD option is also listed for viewers who prefer physical media.
How to watch The Crow (2024)
The Bill Skarsgård reboot is currently listed through the Starz Apple TV Channel. That is a subscription channel inside the Apple TV ecosystem and should be distinguished from buying or renting the movie individually in the Apple TV Store.
The 2024 film is also currently listed for digital rental and purchase through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango at Home. The U.S. listing checked for this guide did not show a free streaming option. Do not treat an old “watch free” page, a trial offer, or an unrelated listing for the 1994 film as confirmation that the reboot is free.

Apple says an Apple TV rental generally must be started within 30 days and is available for 48 hours after playback begins. Apple’s TV app supports rentals across Apple devices, compatible smart TVs, streaming devices, computers, and game consoles, although exact availability can vary by country, device, and account.
What “free” means for these movies
There are three different kinds of no-upfront-cost or lower-cost access that are easy to confuse:
- Library streaming: Kanopy and Hoopla access is tied to a participating public or academic library. It is not guaranteed for every library card and may vary by institution.
- Free with ads: Services such as Tubi, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, The CW, Fandango at Home Free, YouTube Free, and Shout! Factory TV support viewing through advertising. The title must still be present in the service’s current catalog.
- Subscription or free-trial access: A movie available through a paid subscription or a temporary trial is not the same as a permanently free catalog listing. The 2024 film’s Starz Apple TV Channel route belongs in the subscription category.
For this franchise, the most reliable answer is therefore not simply “all five are free” or “none are free.” The 1994, 1996, and 2005 films have library-based options; the 2000 film has several ad-supported options; and the 2024 reboot currently requires a subscription-channel or transactional route according to the U.S. listing checked.
Device and access tips
Use the official app or domain for whichever service you choose. Tubi lists support for web browsers, mobile devices, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Xbox, PlayStation, Samsung smart TVs, Sony smart TVs, and other supported devices. The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, The CW, Kanopy, and Hoopla likewise have their own device and account requirements, which can change over time.
For a library service, start with your library’s catalog or the service’s library-selection screen. If a title does not appear after you have selected the correct institution, that may mean the library does not license it, rather than that the service is broken. For a paid store, confirm that you are looking at the correct year before renting or buying: the 1994 and 2024 movies share the title The Crow.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to avoid unsafe “free movie” pages
Stick to the legal library and ad-supported services listed above, and open them through their official websites or verified apps. Avoid pages that demand a browser extension, an unknown video player, an executable download, or payment-card information for supposedly free access. Be especially cautious of search results that use a movie title and “full movie free” but do not clearly identify a recognized service.

This guide does not recommend pirate sites, torrent sources, mirror pages, or VPN use to bypass regional rights restrictions. Besides the copyright issue, unofficial pages can expose viewers to misleading redirects, unwanted downloads, or account and payment scams. If a legitimate service does not offer the title in your location, use a listed rental, purchase, library alternative, or physical release instead.
Availability disclaimer
All availability statements above refer to U.S. listings and are snapshots, not permanent guarantees. Rights can change without notice, and a title can disappear from a free service while remaining available for rental or purchase. Check the service before starting playback, particularly if you are planning a franchise marathon or arranging access through a library. For publication and scheduled refreshes, free-service claims should be rechecked within seven days.

Are all five Crow movies free to stream in the U.S.?
No. The 1994, 1996, and 2005 films currently have library-based free listings, while The Crow: Salvation (2000) is listed on several free-with-ads services. The 2024 reboot has no free streaming option listed in the U.S. snapshot used for this guide.
Do I need a library card to watch The Crow on Kanopy or Hoopla?
You generally need an eligible account connected to a participating public or academic library. Not every library participates, and having a library card does not guarantee access to every title or to either service.
Is The Crow (2024) a sequel to the 1994 movie?
No. The 2024 film is best understood as a reboot or new adaptation centered on Eric and Shelly, rather than a direct continuation of Eric Draven’s 1994 story. It can be watched independently.
Does The Crow 4K Blu-ray contain the entire franchise?
No. The 4K UHD release referenced here is an edition of The Crow (1994). It should not be assumed to include the older sequels or the 2024 reboot.

What is the difference between the Starz Apple TV Channel and the Apple TV Store?
The Starz Apple TV Channel is a subscription-based channel accessed through Apple’s TV platform. The Apple TV Store is a transactional storefront where a film can be rented or purchased individually. They are separate viewing routes.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Start with Kanopy or Hoopla for the 1994 original, 1996 sequel, and 2005 film if your participating library offers them. For the widest free selection, check the ad-supported services carrying The Crow: Salvation (2000). The 2024 reboot is currently a Starz Apple TV Channel, rental, or purchase title rather than a free stream. Because all of these listings can change, verify the exact film and service immediately before watching.
