What was the genuinely free way to watch?
Use a digital antenna
The clearest free legal U.S. option was a digital antenna connected to a television. If the antenna could receive the local CBS affiliate, there was no recurring streaming bill.
Reception varies with distance from the transmitter, terrain, nearby buildings, construction materials, and antenna placement. An indoor antenna may work well in one apartment and poorly in another; rural homes may need a different setup. U.S. CBS and Paramount+ information does not apply worldwide. A secondary guide reported that TVNZ+ carried the 2025–26 NFL playoffs for free in New Zealand, but international rights are country-specific and can change by season. Best alternatives without cable
YouTube TV
YouTube TV was the more suitable choice for viewers seeking a broad live-TV replacement with local channels and several sports networks. It was usually excessive for someone who wanted only one CBS playoff game.
NFL Sunday Ticket was not the natural product for this matchup. Can NFL+ stream the game on a TV?

Troubleshooting viewing problems
Your streaming service does not show CBS
Enter your ZIP code on the provider’s channel-availability page before paying. A service may carry CBS in some markets but not the local affiliate in yours. If the station is unavailable, consider the local CBS website or app, an antenna, or another live-TV provider that confirms local coverage.
Paramount+ shows no live CBS feed
- Turn off any VPN or proxy.
- Enable location permissions for the app or browser.
- Confirm the account ZIP code and location.
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Update the app or try the supported web player.
- Check whether your plan includes live local CBS.
- Use an antenna or another provider if the affiliate is unavailable.
The antenna cannot find CBS
Rescan for channels, move the antenna near a window or higher location, and check whether nearby buildings or terrain block the signal. Reception may simply be insufficient at the property; an antenna is free to use but cannot guarantee a usable CBS signal.
