As of August 18, 2026, Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 1 is streaming on Netflix. Volume 1 is the season’s opening four-episode group. Open the series page, choose Season 5, and start the first listed episode. It is not a separate pay-per-view title or add-on.
Is Season 5, Volume 1 available now?
Yes. Netflix’s official Stranger Things page lists five seasons and provides the Season 5 episode controls. Volume 1 is presented as part of Season 5 rather than necessarily appearing as a separate “Volume 1” product page.
All Season 5 episodes are now past their original scheduled release dates. Volume 1 remains the first four episodes; the later episodes were released in additional scheduled groups.
When did Volume 1 release?
Netflix announced the U.S. premiere for November 26, 2025, at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. That was:

The same moment can fall on a different calendar date elsewhere. For example, Netflix’s Japan announcement listed the local release as November 27 at 10 a.m. Japan time (Netflix Japan). This was a scheduled volume release, not a weekly episode rollout.
Netflix generally releases originals at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time, but a title can have a separately announced time. For a delayed appearance, Netflix recommends reloading the app or browser, refreshing the page, or restarting the device; see its release-time guidance.

How to watch Volume 1 on Netflix
- Open Netflix on a supported smart TV, streaming player, game console, cable box, phone, tablet, or computer browser. Netflix describes supported device categories in its service overview.
- Sign in to your Netflix account and choose the profile you want to use.
- Search for Stranger Things and open the official series page.
- In the episode area, open Select Season and choose Season 5.
- Start the first listed Season 5 episode. The first four episodes are Volume 1.
On a television or streaming device
Use the Netflix app’s search function rather than relying only on a “New Releases” row. Scroll to Episodes, select Season 5, and avoid trailer or bonus-material tiles.
In a computer browser
Go to Netflix, sign in, search for the title, and use the same Season 5 selector. A browser is a useful fallback when a television app is not loading correctly.

On a phone or tablet
Open the Netflix mobile app, search for the series, select Season 5, and tap the first episode. Playback controls include subtitle, audio-language, and audio-description options when those tracks are available for your region and device.
Which Netflix plan do you need?
You need an active Netflix membership; the reviewed official sources do not identify a free legal stream or a separate rental purchase. Netflix’s signup process is available at Netflix signup: choose a plan, enter an email address and password, add a payment method, then sign in. Netflix says plans can be changed or canceled online and billing recurs monthly on the membership date (signup help).

For U.S. viewers, Netflix displayed these prices in August 2026. Prices, taxes, eligibility, and partner-billing rates can change by country and date.

These features come from Netflix’s plan information. Premium is not required to access Season 5; it is relevant only if you want compatible 4K/HDR playback, spatial audio, or additional simultaneous streams. Netflix says most titles are included with its ad-supported experience, although some titles can be unavailable because of licensing restrictions and marked with a lock icon (ads help). The reviewed Stranger Things listing presents the title with the ad-supported plan.

Check for an existing bundle
Before creating another subscription, check whether Netflix is already included through a participating billing partner such as Comcast/Xfinity, T-Mobile, Verizon, Spectrum, Cox, DirecTV, Dish, Frontier, or Optimum. Availability depends on the partner package and location (Netflix payment options).

Volume 1 contains four episodes. Netflix may show them simply as the first four entries under Season 5. You do not need to find a separate Volume 1 menu item.
If Season 5 is missing
- Confirm you are not using a Kids profile and that the profile’s maturity setting allows the title.
- Search the full title, Stranger Things, instead of browsing a category row.
- Open the official title page and check Select Season for Season 5.
- Scroll to Episodes; do not select a trailer tile.
- Reload Netflix or refresh the browser.
- Sign out and back in, then restart the streaming device.
- Update the Netflix app and the device software.
- Try a supported computer browser or another supported device.
- Check whether the account is being used in another country or through a package with catalog restrictions.
Netflix notes that catalog availability can vary by region and change over time (What is Netflix?). Older devices may also lack support for some current plans, especially the ad-supported experience.
Can you download the episodes?
Netflix supports downloads on eligible plans, titles, and devices. Its help information lists supported Android phones and tablets, iPhones, iPads, and Google Chromebooks. Open the episode or title page in the mobile app and use the download icon when it is offered. Downloads are subject to the account, device, title, and plan’s availability; they are not guaranteed on every device.
Regional availability and timing
The release time above is the announced U.S. schedule. Local dates and times differ internationally, and Netflix catalogs and plan lineups are country-specific. Do not use a more expensive plan or a separate service expecting to unlock a regional catalog; Netflix identifies the series as a Netflix title, but what appears on an account can depend on location and licensing.
