There is no dependable legal website that streams every NBA game live for free. Your no-extra-monthly-cost options are limited: receive a local ABC or NBC broadcast with an antenna, use an eligible current promotion or free trial, or watch through a subscription or TV-provider login you already have. A game being free over the air does not mean its online stream is free.
As of October 8, 2026, the 2025–26 season is over and the 2026–27 season has not started; Peacock lists October 20, 2026, as the upcoming season’s start. Check the exact game listing when the season begins rather than assuming last season’s schedule or prices still apply. Peacock’s NBA page
Find out where the game is airing first
The quickest way to identify an authorized stream is to find the exact game on NBA.com or in the NBA App. Check the date, start time and time zone, and the broadcaster listed for that game. Where available, the NBA’s “Tap to Watch” option routes viewers to the relevant league, team or partner platform. The NBA’s 2025–26 viewing guide
Then check the broadcaster’s official service and your local options. A weekday pattern can be a clue, but it is not a substitute for the game listing: special events, schedule changes and the new season can affect where a particular game appears.

- ABC or NBC: Check whether your local affiliate carries the game and whether you can receive it with an antenna. Online access may require a TV-provider login or paid service.
- ESPN: Use the ESPN access route shown for the game; it may require an eligible subscription or authenticated TV-provider login.
- Peacock or Prime Video: Watch through the service carrying that game, if you have access or a current qualifying offer.
- Local regional sports network: Check the team’s or broadcaster’s official listing for the authorized local option.
- NBA League Pass: Check whether the game is out of market and not subject to a live blackout.
For context, the NBA’s published 2025–26 plan allocated 80 regular-season games to ABC/ESPN, 100 to NBC/Peacock and 66 to Prime Video. Those were season-specific figures, not a promise about the 2026–27 schedule. The NBA’s 2025–26 schedule primer describes the season’s distribution.
Which options can actually be free?
Use an antenna for a local ABC or NBC broadcast
If the game is carried by your local ABC or NBC affiliate and the signal reaches your home, an antenna can provide the broadcast without a monthly streaming subscription. You need access to the equipment, and reception depends on your location, terrain, building and affiliate coverage. This is free broadcast television—not a free internet stream.
Check the game’s official listing, identify the local affiliate, and verify reception for your address or ZIP code before relying on an antenna. A network’s website or app may still require a participating TV-provider login, a paid service or other eligibility.
Check for a current trial or promotion
A trial or promotional period can provide legitimate access if it is offered to you and includes the game’s channel. Availability, duration, eligibility and cancellation terms can change. Before signing up, check the provider’s own offer page for your ZIP code, whether the offer is limited to new customers, what channels the plan includes, when billing begins, and how to cancel. A payment method may be required, and the subscription may renew automatically.

Use access you already have
A household subscription, pay-TV login, school package or mobile promotion may already include the needed service. Check the account’s terms and the provider’s supported viewing route. Access through an existing plan is not the same as a universally free stream, and sharing access must comply with that provider’s rules.

Look for official limited-time previews
The NBA, a team or a broadcaster may occasionally offer a free preview or special event. Treat it as a temporary promotion: verify that the offer is on an official site and applies to the specific game. It is not a standing way to watch the full schedule free.
Will NBA League Pass show the game live?
Not necessarily. In the United States, League Pass is primarily for out-of-market games. NBA support says live local-team broadcasts and nationally televised games are blacked out; certain playoff, All-Star and NBA Cup games are also unavailable live through the service. A League Pass subscription is therefore not a complete replacement for local TV, ABC/ESPN, NBC/Peacock or Prime Video. Review the NBA League Pass blackout policy and check the League Pass purchase page before paying.

These are replay windows, not live access.
What is the lowest-cost legal option for one game?
Match the option to the game rather than buying a broad package before checking its broadcaster. For a local ABC or NBC game, an antenna may be the least expensive route if reception is available and you already own or can borrow one. For a Peacock-, Prime Video- or ESPN-carried game, check existing access and current official offers first. If you need a paid live-TV bundle, compare the exact channel lineup for your ZIP code and the total cost and renewal terms.
For an out-of-market regular-season game, the NBA’s 2025–26 viewing guide listed U.S. single-game League Pass purchases at $6.99 for a full game, with quarter-by-quarter options at $4.99, $2.99 and $0.99. These are historical season-specific prices, not a confirmed 2026–27 offer; check the NBA’s current purchase flow for availability and price. A single-game option will not remove a blackout.
For U.S. playoff and Finals games, League Pass is generally not the live route; use the national broadcaster listed for the event. If no free or already-included option applies, the legitimate choice may be a paid service carrying that game or a licensed venue showing it.

How to check and start the official stream
- Open the NBA schedule or NBA App. Find the exact matchup and record its date, start time and time zone, event type, and listed broadcaster.
- Select the watch option, if shown. Use the NBA’s “Tap to Watch” route to reach the authorized platform associated with the listing.
- Check local broadcast reception. For ABC or NBC, confirm that the local affiliate carries the game and that an antenna can receive it at your location.
- Open the listed provider’s official page or app. Confirm that your plan, TV login or current offer includes this specific game.
- Verify trial terms before starting one. Check eligibility, billing start, channel availability, blackout restrictions and cancellation instructions.
- Test access before tipoff. Sign in on the device you intend to use, confirm the correct account, and update the app if needed.
Why a free stream may not work
The game is blacked out on League Pass
A local or national broadcast, or a restricted event, may be the reason. Confirm the broadcaster on the NBA listing and use its authorized service. If a game appears incorrectly unavailable, NBA support’s blackout page includes troubleshooting such as trying another supported platform or browser, clearing cache and cookies, reinstalling the NBA App, restarting network equipment, or comparing Wi-Fi with mobile data. Do not use a VPN as a guaranteed workaround; it can trigger location errors and may conflict with provider terms.
The network lists the game, but its online stream asks for a login
Free reception with an antenna and online streaming authentication are separate things. A network app may ask for a pay-TV login, and local affiliate coverage can vary by market. Check the network’s official availability information and the NBA’s listing instead of assuming that an over-the-air broadcast unlocks a free web stream.
Your trial does not include the game
The offer may exclude the required channel, be unavailable in your ZIP code, be restricted to new customers, or no longer be active. The game may also be on another service or subject to a blackout. Check the plan details and game listing before relying on a trial.
The stream is delayed or keeps buffering
An internet broadcast can lag behind television because of encoding and buffering. If playback stalls, lower video quality if the service allows it, close other high-bandwidth apps, improve Wi-Fi or use a wired connection, and restart the streaming device or router. Check the provider’s service status and use only its official app or browser player; do not install an unofficial codec, extension or alternate player.
How to avoid unsafe or unauthorized stream sites
A page promising every NBA game free without a recognizable broadcaster, NBA authorization or legitimate account flow is unverified. Such pages may use fake play buttons and redirects, ask for login or payment details, push unwanted browser notifications or extensions, or prompt downloads disguised as player updates. Streams can also disappear during a game, and unauthorized viewing may raise copyright or service-terms issues.
Do not enter your NBA, email, payment or TV-provider credentials on an unverified page, and do not download software to make its player work. Start from NBA.com, the NBA App or the official broadcaster or service.
Outside the United States
Broadcast rights and blackout rules vary by country, so the U.S. guidance above does not automatically apply elsewhere. Use the NBA’s country-specific League Pass purchase flow or the local rights holder to see what is available where you are. NBA support describes League Pass purchasing information, including availability through participating partners in selected countries.
