The simplest option is NCAA March Madness Live. It is the official tournament hub for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and web browsers, and it brings together games carried by CBS, TBS, TNT, and truTV when you have the required access. The app is free to download, but that does not mean every live game is free.
For CBS games, Paramount+ Premium is an alternative. Games shown on TBS, TNT, and truTV require a qualifying TV-provider login or a service carrying those networks. Rights, plans, and availability can change each tournament year; the details below reflect the 2026 U.S. distribution model, while the 2026 tournament itself has ended.

Before choosing an app, check the matchup’s listed network. CBS means Paramount+ Premium or another route to local CBS. TBS, TNT, and truTV mean March Madness Live authentication or a service that carries those Turner networks. This network check prevents the most common mistake: subscribing to Paramount+ and expecting it to show every game.

- Open the App Store and search for NCAA March Madness Live.
- Confirm that the developer is NCAA Digital, then install the app.
- Open the app and select the live game or tournament schedule.
- Choose Sign In or the TV-provider authentication option when prompted.
- Select your provider, complete its login and authorization flow, then return to the game.
The official app listing describes live games across CBS, TBS, TNT, and truTV, along with scores, bracket updates, alerts, highlights, on-demand video, AirPlay, and Multi-Game viewing. The 2026 listing supported two simultaneous games on iPhone. Features and device limits can change with a later tournament release.

For long viewing sessions, use Wi-Fi when practical. Cellular streaming can consume several gigabytes, while weak signal, congestion, Low Power Mode, or aggressive data-saving settings may cause pauses or reduced picture quality.
How to watch on iPad
Install NCAA March Madness Live from the App Store, open a game, and authenticate with a supported provider if requested. The iPad is particularly useful for overlapping games: the 2026 app listing described up to four simultaneous games on iPad and Mac, although the exact number depends on the current app version and tournament release.
You can watch directly on the iPad or send the picture to a television with AirPlay. Native playback on an Apple TV is usually the more dependable choice when that app is available.

- Open the App Store on Apple TV.
- Search for NCAA March Madness Live and install the official app.
- Open it, select a live game, and complete TV-provider authentication if required.
- Choose a matchup from the live schedule.
The Apple TV version supports live games, scores, on-demand video, and Multi-Game viewing. The 2026 listing described up to four simultaneous games on Apple TV 4K. Installing the free app does not automatically unlock every matchup: access still depends on the game’s network, your subscription or provider credentials, geography, and that season’s rights agreement.

If you use Paramount+ or a live-TV service, its native Apple TV app may be the best route for games included in that subscription. Native playback is generally preferable to mirroring a phone or tablet.
How to watch in a web browser
- Open the official NCAA March Madness Live viewing hub.
- Select the live game or schedule.
- Choose the sign-in option if the stream is locked.
- Select your TV provider and complete authentication in the browser.
- Return to the game page and press play.
Use the official viewing hub rather than an old bookmarked game URL, since tournament pages and authentication prompts can change. Supported browsers may also change. Ad blockers, VPNs, privacy tools, blocked third-party cookies, and browser extensions can interfere with provider authorization or protected video.
A computer connected directly to a monitor or television by HDMI can be a useful fallback. Browser-to-TV casting and AirPlay behavior varies by browser and protected-content settings, so a native Apple TV app is often more reliable.

CBS
For CBS games, options include Paramount+ Premium’s local live CBS feed, a live-TV service carrying the local CBS station, an eligible TV-provider package, or a digital antenna within reliable range of a CBS affiliate. Paramount+ is a practical choice if you mainly want CBS games, but it is not a complete men’s tournament service.

Paramount+’s official viewing information states that live CBS March Madness access requires the Premium plan. Local availability can depend on location and the service’s live-feed rights.
TBS, TNT, and truTV
These games generally require authentication through March Madness Live with a qualifying TV provider, or a paid service carrying the relevant Turner networks. Max/HBO Max may be an option where the current tournament rights package includes the games, but do not assume that every Max plan includes live sports. Check the tournament-year terms and plan details before subscribing.
Can you watch without cable?
Yes, but “without cable” does not necessarily mean free.
- Only CBS games: Use Paramount+ Premium, a digital antenna, or a live-TV streaming service carrying local CBS.
- All network feeds: Compare a live-TV streaming package with the applicable Paramount+ and Max/HBO Max options for that tournament year.
- No traditional TV subscription: A paid streaming service may replace cable, but it still requires an account and may have regional or plan restrictions.
- Free access: The NCAA app is free to download. Any free previews or free viewing windows must be confirmed for the specific tournament year.
For live-TV services, verify local CBS availability using your ZIP code and confirm that the plan carries TBS, TNT, and truTV. Also check simultaneous-stream limits, trials, sports add-ons, device support, and the price after any promotion ends.

How to AirPlay from an iPhone or iPad
- Connect the iPhone or iPad and Apple TV or AirPlay receiver to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Start the game in NCAA March Madness Live.
- Tap the AirPlay icon in the video controls.
- Select the Apple TV or compatible television.
- To stop, open the AirPlay control again and choose the iPhone or iPad.
If AirPlay connects but the screen is black, update the app and both devices, confirm the Wi-Fi network, and restart the app and receiver. Try the native Apple TV app, an HDMI connection from a computer, or the relevant Paramount+ or live-TV app instead. Protected-content restrictions can affect live video even when other content AirPlays successfully.
How to watch multiple games at once
The 2026 NCAA March Madness Live listings described Multi-Game viewing as follows:
- Up to two games on iPhone.
- Up to four games on iPad, Mac, and Apple TV 4K.
Those limits are tied to the listed app version and devices, so verify them for the next tournament. Multi-Game viewing is useful for overlapping tipoffs, but it makes each picture smaller, increases bandwidth use, and can make audio switching less convenient.
When a game is visible but locked
Work through this sequence:
- Check the network. Confirm whether the game is on CBS, TBS, TNT, or truTV.
- Match the network to your subscription. Paramount+ is for CBS coverage, not the whole tournament.
- Reauthenticate. Sign out of March Madness Live and repeat the provider authorization flow.
- Try another official route. Switch between the app and browser, or use the network’s authorized native app.
- Check geography. Live rights and local CBS feeds can depend on your location.
- Update software. Install current app, iOS, iPadOS, macOS, browser, and Apple TV updates where available.
Paramount+ shows no game
First verify that the matchup is airing on CBS and that the account uses the Premium plan. Paramount+ does not carry every men’s tournament game.

Apple TV cannot find the NCAA app
Search the full name, check the Apple Account’s store region, update Apple TV, and remember that the tournament-specific live section may be dormant outside the event window. If the app is unavailable in your territory, use a supported official streaming app or AirPlay from an iPhone or iPad.
Watching outside the United States
The App Store listing limits live video availability to the United States, U.S. territories, and Bermuda. International rights are different and should not be inferred from the U.S. network split. Do not use a VPN to bypass geographic restrictions; it can violate a service’s terms and cause authentication or billing problems.
2026 dates and future availability
The 2026 men’s tournament ran from the First Four and first round in March through the championship game on April 6, 2026. Those dates are historical, not upcoming. Paramount+ currently says CBS coverage returns in 2027. Before the next tournament, recheck the NCAA viewing page, network assignments, participating services, app availability, and plan requirements because rights and features can change.
