Choose the viewing method that fits your equipment
Most viewers do not need new hardware. Start with the screen you already own, then add a streaming device only if the television lacks a supported app or casting target.

Watch on an Android phone or tablet
Check the Android version
MagellanTV’s FAQ lists Android app support from Android 8 through the current version. On most devices, open Settings, choose About phone or About tablet, and look for Android version. Menu names vary by manufacturer. If the device is below Android 8, the app may not be offered or may not function as expected; updating the operating system is the first remedy when an update is available.

Install and sign in
- Open the device’s app store and search for MagellanTV.
- Install the official MagellanTV app and open it.
- Choose the sign-in option and enter the credentials for the account that holds the membership.
- Browse or search for a documentary, open its film-description page, and press play.
Use the same account on every device. If a title appears on one screen but not another, confirm that both apps are signed in to the same account before troubleshooting the network.
Use Android as a casting controller
When the television or receiver is a supported casting target, open the documentary’s film-description page and select the casting icon. Choose the television shown on the local network, then start playback. The phone can act as the controller while the video plays on the television.
If the television does not appear, confirm that the phone and TV are connected to the same Wi‑Fi network rather than one using mobile data or a guest network. Also verify that the account is signed in and has an active membership; MagellanTV lists all three conditions for casting.
Watch on an iPhone or iPad
Confirm iOS or iPadOS eligibility
The FAQ lists iOS 12 through the current version. Check the software in Settings → General → About. If an update is offered in Settings → General → Software Update, install it before diagnosing an app problem. Devices that cannot run iOS 12 or newer may need a different viewing route, such as a computer browser or a supported TV platform.

Install the app
- Open the App Store and search for MagellanTV.
- Install and launch the app.
- Sign in with the account that has the membership.
- Open a documentary’s description and select play.
Keep the app and iOS current when possible. If playback stops after the device has been idle, reopen the app and sign in again before changing account or subscription settings.
Cast from an iPhone or iPad
From the film-description page, tap the casting icon and select the compatible television or receiver. The iPhone or iPad and the target must be on the same Wi‑Fi network. A signed-in account and active membership are also required. If no target is listed, move both devices to the same non-guest network, disable a VPN or network-isolation feature temporarily, and retry discovery.
Install MagellanTV directly on a smart TV
Samsung televisions
MagellanTV’s FAQ lists Samsung models from 2018 onward. Open the television’s app store, search for MagellanTV, install it, and sign in. “2018 onward” is a model-year guideline rather than a guarantee for every regional variant, so the decisive test is whether the app is offered on the exact TV and software version.
LG televisions
LG models from 2018 onward are listed as supported. Use the LG app store to search for MagellanTV, install the app, and complete the sign-in flow. If the app is absent, check for a TV software update and then consider casting or a supported plug-in platform.

Vizio televisions
The FAQ names some Vizio D and E series and newer models, but it also warns that Vizio apps are loaded at manufacture. That means an app may not be added later in the same way as on another smart-TV platform. Search the installed app catalog on the exact television. If MagellanTV is unavailable, casting is the recommended alternative listed by the service.
Sony televisions
For Sony, MagellanTV directs viewers to find the app in Google Play. Open Google Play on the TV, search for MagellanTV, install it, and sign in. Sony models can use different operating systems and regional app catalogs, so the presence of the app on the television is more reliable than the brand name alone.
Apple TV
MagellanTV lists Apple TV support with a minimum tvOS version of 12.0. On the Apple TV home screen, open the App Store, search for MagellanTV, install it, and sign in. Update tvOS if the app does not appear, then check again.
Use a plug-in streaming device
A separate device is useful when the TV’s built-in app is unavailable, the television is too old, or you want to keep the streaming interface independent of the TV manufacturer. MagellanTV names Roku, Fire TV with OS 7 or newer, Apple TV (4th and 5th generation), and Android TV. Televisions with those platforms built in are included as well.

- Connect the streaming device to an HDMI port and select that input on the television.
- Complete the device’s network setup and install any available operating-system update.
- Open the device’s app store and search for MagellanTV.
- Install the app, open it, and sign in with the membership account.
- Select a documentary and begin playback.
The FAQ does not provide a current model-by-model list for Fire TV or Roku, and it does not guarantee every device within a named family. Before buying, verify the exact model and software version against MagellanTV’s current support information. Do not assume that a product’s brand name alone establishes compatibility.
When a Fire TV route makes sense
Fire TV is one of the explicitly listed platforms and can be a practical option for a television without the MagellanTV app. Treat the device as optional rather than a requirement: a built-in app, mobile casting, or browser viewing may already solve the problem. Confirm that the specific Fire TV model runs OS 7 or newer and that the MagellanTV app is available in your region before purchasing.
Cast MagellanTV to a television
Supported targets
MagellanTV lists Chromecast, Fire TV, Roku, Samsung televisions from 2018 onward, LG televisions from 2018 onward, Vizio, and Android TV as casting targets. The television or receiver must be discoverable on the same local network as the mobile device.
Exact casting sequence
- Open MagellanTV on the Android device, iPhone, or iPad.
- Sign in to the account with an active membership.
- Open the documentary’s film-description page.
- Tap or click the casting icon.
- Choose the television or receiver shown on the local Wi‑Fi network.
- Start playback and use the mobile device as the controller.
If no television appears
- Check that the phone or tablet and television are connected to the same Wi‑Fi network name and band. A guest network can prevent device discovery.
- Confirm that Wi‑Fi is enabled on the mobile device and that it has not switched to cellular data.
- Make sure the MagellanTV app is signed in and the membership is active.
- Restart the app, then restart the television or receiver if it remains missing.
- Install pending software updates on the mobile device and casting target.
- If discovery still fails, use the TV app, a supported plug-in device, or the computer browser instead.
Casting does not remove regional rights restrictions. A documentary available to the account on one network or location may not be available in another location.

Watch in a computer browser
MagellanTV’s FAQ says you can watch at MagellanTV.com. On a computer, open the site, sign in, choose a documentary, and start playback. This path requires no TV app or streaming accessory and is useful when a mobile device is below the supported operating-system version.
To put browser playback on a television, connect the computer to the TV using the computer’s supported display connection or use a TV platform that can receive the computer’s cast. The exact display method depends on the computer and television; MagellanTV’s documented casting requirements still apply when you use its in-app casting feature.
Subscription, billing, and regional availability
Check the offer shown at signup
Prices and promotions are time-sensitive. An official offer page reviewed on October 13, 2026 displayed $5.99 per month. An annual offer displayed an introductory first-year price that was not stated in the available material, followed by $59.88 for each year beginning in year two. Another reviewed offer page showed a first-month promotion without a stable amount. These figures describe the pages reviewed on that date, not a guaranteed price for every visitor.
Before confirming payment, read the signup screen for the current monthly or annual price, introductory period, renewal amount, trial conditions, taxes, and cancellation terms. A promotion can vary by visitor, region, device, or billing channel.
Third-party billing
MagellanTV’s terms say a subscription purchased through a third party must be managed through that third-party account. If you subscribed through an app store or television platform, use that platform’s subscription-management screen for renewal, cancellation, or payment changes rather than assuming the MagellanTV website controls the billing.
Catalog differences by location
MagellanTV describes the service as available in many regions, but program selection varies by location because of rights restrictions. A membership therefore does not guarantee that every documentary is available in every country. Check the catalog after signing in from the location where you plan to watch.

- Add a streaming device only when necessary. Roku, Fire TV OS 7 or newer, Apple TV 4th or 5th generation, and Android TV are named options. Verify the exact model before purchase.
