Availability and prices below are for the U.S. and were last checked in July 2026. Streaming catalogs, channel bundles, rental prices, and plan requirements change, so verify the listing immediately before subscribing or paying.
Where to stream the four main John Wick movies
| Movie | Year | Current U.S. subscription listings | Other ways to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| John Wick | 2014 | HBO Max, HBO Max Amazon Channel, YouTube TV | Rent or buy digitally through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, Fandango At Home, and other listed outlets |
| John Wick: Chapter 2 | 2017 | HBO Max, HBO Max Amazon Channel, YouTube TV | Rent or buy digitally; DVD and Blu-ray listings are also available |

| John Wick: Chapter 4 | 2023 | HBO Max, HBO Max Amazon Channel, YouTube TV | Rent or buy digitally through major video-on-demand stores |
These listings are summarized from the current U.S. John Wick streaming listings. The listings cover the four main films, but a service’s catalog can change between the time you read this and the time you start watching.
Cheapest practical way to watch John Wick
- Already subscribe to HBO Max? Check there first. It is currently the simplest single subscription route for the four-film main saga.
- Want to watch all four films? Confirm that all four titles are still included in the catalog before beginning. A licensing change could otherwise interrupt your marathon.
- Need only one movie? A one-time digital rental may cost less than adding a subscription, especially if you are watching only the first film or a particular sequel. Compare the current rental price with the cost of a new subscription before checking out.
- Want permanent access? Physical discs avoid the uncertainty of rotating streaming licenses. Compare a John Wick Chapters 1–4 Blu-ray/DVD collection or individual 4K UHD releases, checking the exact format, seller, stock, and price before purchasing.
Do not assume that a subscription is automatically the cheapest choice: streaming services may require a particular plan, while digital rental prices vary by title and retailer. Conversely, buying four individual digital movies can cost more than a month of a service that carries the entire series.
How to watch the John Wick movies in order
Best order for first-time viewers: release order
- John Wick (2014)
- John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
- John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019)
- John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
Release order is the least confusing introduction because the criminal underworld, its rules, and its supporting characters are revealed progressively. It also preserves the intended escalation from a relatively contained revenge story into a larger conflict involving the High Table.

After the four main films, watch Ballerina and then The Continental if you want more of the franchise’s world. That is not strict chronological order, but it is the most accessible order for a new viewer.
Chronological placement of the spinoffs
Ballerina takes place between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4. Even so, it is better experienced after at least the first three films because it assumes familiarity with the franchise’s institutions and supporting characters. The film is a 2025 Lionsgate action thriller starring Ana de Armas, with Keanu Reeves appearing as John Wick; its Apple TV listing for Ballerina identifies its release and cast details.
The Continental: From the World of John Wick is a three-episode prequel series set in the 1970s. It focuses on a younger Winston Scott and the origins of the Continental safe house. You can watch it after the films for additional background, or watch it first if you specifically want the franchise’s chronological starting point. For most first-time viewers, however, the films provide the better introduction.
Where to watch From the World of John Wick: Ballerina
In the U.S., Ballerina is currently listed on:
- HBO Max
- HBO Max Amazon Channel
- Starz Apple TV Channel
- YouTube TV
It is also currently listed for rental or purchase through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. Those are separate transactions from a subscription stream, and the available rental quality, purchase format, and price should be checked at the retailer before payment.

If you are watching the main story in release order, place Ballerina after Chapter 4 for the smoothest experience, or between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 if you want chronological story placement and already understand the franchise’s world.
Where to watch The Continental
The three-episode series The Continental: From the World of John Wick is currently listed in the U.S. on Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus. The season is also listed for digital purchase through Amazon Video, Fandango At Home, and Apple TV Store. See the current U.S. listings for The Continental before choosing a plan or buying the episodes.
The Continental is not required to understand the four Keanu Reeves films. It is an optional prequel that expands the history of Winston Scott and the Continental. If your goal is simply to follow John Wick’s story, watch the four films first. If your goal is broader world-building, add the series afterward.
Can you watch John Wick for free?
The U.S. listings checked for this guide did not show a free streaming option for the four main films, Ballerina, or The Continental. “Included with a subscription” is also not the same as free: HBO Max, Peacock, YouTube TV, and channel add-ons require paid access, and some listings may depend on a particular plan.
Streaming versus renting, buying, or owning discs
Subscription streaming
A subscription is usually the most convenient option when you want the complete four-film run. HBO Max currently has the strongest one-service listing for the main series, but the practical value depends on whether you already pay for the service and whether the titles remain included when you watch.
Digital rental or purchase
Renting makes sense when you want one film and do not want another monthly subscription. Buying digitally is more convenient than using a disc, but it is tied to the retailer’s account and platform terms rather than giving you a physical copy. Check whether you are selecting Rent or Buy before completing the transaction.
Blu-ray and 4K UHD
Physical media is the most dependable option for viewers who revisit the films, collect action movies, or do not want a streaming license to determine when a title disappears. Lionsgate’s official shop lists John Wick UHD and DVD products, although the specific first-film UHD listing was marked sold out when checked. Stock and editions vary, so confirm whether a listing is Blu-ray, DVD, or 4K UHD and whether your player supports that format.
Quick decision guide
| Your situation | Most practical route |
|---|---|
| I want all four main movies. | Check HBO Max first, then confirm all four are included before starting. |
| I already have YouTube TV. | Search its current catalog for each film; availability can depend on the listing and service terms. |
| I want only one movie. | Compare the current digital rental price with the cost of adding a subscription. |
| I want to watch Ballerina. | Check HBO Max, the HBO Max Amazon Channel, Starz Apple TV Channel, or YouTube TV; digital rental and purchase are also listed. |
| I want the prequel series. | Use Peacock Premium or Premium Plus, or compare the listed digital purchase options. |
| I want reliable long-term access. | Look for a verified Blu-ray, DVD, or 4K UHD release and confirm format and stock. |
Before you subscribe or press play
- Confirm that you are viewing the U.S. catalog; availability is different in Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries.
- Search for each individual title rather than assuming every sequel is included.
- Check whether HBO Max, Peacock, or a channel listing requires a specific plan or add-on.
- Distinguish a subscription stream from a rental or digital purchase.
- Verify the current price, video quality, subtitles, and audio options at checkout.
- If you are planning a marathon, check the catalog on the same day you intend to watch.
For a first viewing, the simplest plan is: watch the four main films in release order on HBO Max if they are still included in your U.S. catalog, then add Ballerina and The Continental as optional expansions. If you need only one title, compare a digital rental before taking on another subscription; if you plan to revisit the saga, physical media offers more dependable access than a rotating streaming catalog.
