Here is the practical difference between those options, along with the best physical edition for viewers who want to own the Oscar-winning animated film.
In the United States, Flow is currently listed on Hulu for subscription streaming. Availability can change, so confirm the title appears in your account or storefront before paying.
Where to stream Flow in the US
As of the July 2026 availability check used for this guide, Flow is listed on Hulu. Hulu classifies the 2024 animated film as a PG adventure/fantasy title for kids and families. A subscription may be the simplest option if you already use Hulu, but streaming catalogs are subject to change and can vary by country.
JustWatch’s US listing also identified Hulu as the subscription option while checking hundreds of services. That listing is useful as a cross-check, but the most reliable final check is Hulu’s own title page and the availability shown in your account.

Where to rent or buy Flow digitally
If you want to watch the film once without adding a subscription, check these US digital storefronts:
- Amazon Video
- Apple TV Store
- Fandango At Home
These are transactional options: you rent or buy the film separately rather than watching it as part of a standard subscription catalog. Prices, rental windows, video quality, and purchase availability can change, so compare the current listing at the time you are ready to watch. This guide does not quote a price because digital pricing is volatile.
Want to own Flow on disc?
For a physical copy, The Criterion Collection offers three editions: a 4K UHD + Blu-ray Special Edition, a separate Blu-ray edition, and a DVD edition. The director-approved 4K package is the most substantial choice for collectors and animation fans. Along with Flow, it includes Gints Zilbalodis’s 2019 feature Away, commentaries, interviews, an animatic, short films, a making-of documentary, trailers, subtitles, descriptive audio, and collectible stickers.

What is Flow about?
Directed by Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis, Flow follows a cat whose home is destroyed by a great flood. The cat boards a boat with a capybara, lemur, bird, and dog, and the unlikely group must search for dry land while learning to cooperate.
The film runs for about 85 minutes. Published runtimes vary slightly: Janus Films lists 85 minutes, while the Annecy Festival archive records 83 minutes and 24 seconds. The difference is minor, so “about 85 minutes” is the most useful description for viewers.
Flow relies heavily on visual storytelling rather than dialogue-driven exposition. That makes it a strong choice for viewers looking for atmospheric animation, animal-centered storytelling, environmental themes, or independent cinema that communicates through movement, sound, and image. Its flooded setting also gives the film an environmental dimension, while the animals’ changing relationships provide its emotional core.

Why has Flow attracted so much attention?
Flow won Best Animated Feature at the 97th Academy Awards, giving Latvia its first Oscar. The award is a useful reason the film may be on your watchlist, but the practical answer remains the same: check Hulu first if you are in the US and already subscribe; otherwise compare the current rental and purchase listings.

Is Flow on Netflix or Disney+?
This availability check did not establish Flow as a current Netflix, Disney+, or Prime Video subscription title in the US. Do not assume that a listing on a digital storefront means the film is included with that service’s subscription plan. Check the specific service and the wording of the listing before starting playback or completing a purchase.
What about Flow merchandise?
The official FLOW blanket site identifies Sunny Summer Stuff LLC as an official licensee and displays licensed Flow-themed blanket merchandise. This is separate from the film’s streaming and home-video availability, and retailer stock or purchasing terms should be verified before ordering.
