Yes—you can watch ESPN on Amazon Fire TV by installing the official ESPN app and signing in with an eligible ESPN subscription or a participating TV-provider account. The app is free to install, but most live networks and premium programs require access. Amazon Prime alone does not include ESPN.
First decide what you want to watch: ESPN’s traditional live channels, ESPN+ programming now offered through ESPN Select, or both. That choice determines which login or plan you need.
Choose the ESPN access you need
“Watch ESPN” can mean different things. A live event on ESPN or ESPN2 is not necessarily included with access to ESPN+ programming. Check the event listing and the plan or provider package before subscribing: sports rights, regional restrictions, and blackouts can affect availability.

Before you start
- A Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, or Fire TV television connected to power and the internet.
- Your Fire TV signed in to an Amazon account.
- The official ESPN app.
- Credentials for the ESPN/MyDisney account or participating TV provider that supplies your access.
- A phone or computer nearby in case the app asks you to enter an activation code.
ESPN lists Amazon Fire TV among its supported TV-connected devices, including for Select and Unlimited. Exact compatibility can vary on older hardware, so update Fire TV software and check the model if the app is unavailable. See ESPN’s supported-device information.
Install the ESPN app on Fire TV
- Turn on Fire TV and go to the Home screen.
- Choose Search or the magnifying-glass icon. With an Alexa Voice Remote, you can say “ESPN.”
- Search for ESPN and choose the official ESPN app. Check the publisher information rather than selecting an unofficial result.
- Select Get, Download, or Install. The wording can differ by device and Fire OS version.
- When installation finishes, choose Open. If your Fire TV offers the option, move or pin the app on the Home screen for easier access.
Fire TV menus change across device generations and software updates; if these labels differ, use the current Search and app-store options on your device. Amazon provides Fire TV setup and device help.
Sign in with an ESPN or MyDisney subscription
- Open the ESPN app and choose Log In, Sign In, or the equivalent account option.
- Select the ESPN/MyDisney sign-in route and enter the email and password associated with your subscription.
- If asked, complete browser or one-time-code verification using the instructions on screen.
- Return to the ESPN app, browse for the program, and start playback.
ESPN Select and Unlimited use a MyDisney account; use the same email tied to the subscription or bundle. If you subscribed through Disney+, Hulu, Amazon, or another billing partner, make sure you are using the account linked to that entitlement. ESPN’s sign-up guidance explains the account requirement.

- Open ESPN and choose Log In.
- Select TV Provider, Log In with TV Provider, or similar wording.
- Choose your provider. Enter the provider username and password, or follow the app’s activation-code instructions on a phone or computer.
- If a code appears, open the activation URL shown on your TV, enter the code, and approve access. Use the current screen instructions; the URL and wording can change. ESPN also provides an activation page.
- Return to Fire TV and reopen the event or program.
Your provider credentials are not necessarily the same as your ESPN/MyDisney login. Provider access only unlocks the channels and content included in your package, and some newer arrangements require a separate entitlement activation and account link. ESPN’s provider-login instructions describe the authentication process.
Activate an ESPN Unlimited entitlement from a provider
Some participating providers require you to activate the included ESPN entitlement in your provider account before ESPN recognizes it. The general flow is to sign in to the provider’s website or app, find subscriptions, included apps, or account benefits, choose the ESPN activation option, and continue to ESPN. Confirm the activation and create or connect the MyDisney login you will use on Fire TV.
Provider menus vary. ESPN documents instructions for providers including Xfinity, Cox, DIRECTV, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Spectrum, U-verse, and Verizon FiOS. Use ESPN’s provider-specific activation guide rather than relying on an old menu path.

Select provides the ESPN+ library and associated live sports, originals, replays, and on-demand programming. Unlimited includes Select content plus live access to ESPN networks and services, subject to rights and geographic restrictions. If your existing provider already includes the access you need, check its activation process before paying for a second subscription.

Eligible Disney+/Hulu bundles may include Select or Unlimited. Which content you can stream depends on the specific bundle; a bundle does not necessarily replace provider authentication for every traditional network stream, and you may still need the ESPN app. Check ESPN’s bundle details. Other ways to watch
If Fire TV authentication continues to fail, ESPN supports other connected-TV platforms, including Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, Xbox, PlayStation, Samsung, and LG devices; availability depends on model and region. You can also use a provider’s own streaming app if your package includes ESPN. A phone or computer can be useful for completing account activation even when Fire TV is where you watch. Can I watch ESPN without cable?
Yes. ESPN Unlimited provides live network access plus Select content, subject to rights and restrictions. ESPN Select is for Select/ESPN+ content, not a universal replacement for traditional network access.
Does ESPN Select include ESPN and ESPN2?
Select provides ESPN+ library and associated programming; for traditional ESPN and ESPN2 network streams, use ESPN Unlimited or eligible provider access.
What if my TV provider is not listed in the ESPN app?
